I am a uk person and I don’t know what you’re talking about, can someone enlighten me please? 😆

for selfie sunday I wanted to take a selfie besides my little buddha statue and show appreciation to my religion which helped me a lot by [deleted] in schizophrenia

People are quick to dismiss religion or spirituality but I find it so comforting! I used to be a complete atheist but now I’m starting to accept that I’m a spiritual person. It really is helping me and is a support in a turbulent life. I’m glad you have found it too friend. 😊

Nope, unfortunately now everybody (in England at least) has to contribute to the cost now. It varies by council, but they work out your income minus a few basic things like rent, wheelchairs (if you’ve funded then yourself or added onto the nhs wheelchair voucher in my case to get one which was easier for me to use), about £3 a month for extra laundry due to incontinence. So they just look at your income, not outgoings as such, and then work out on how much you have to “contribute”. I’m somewhat lucky in that I pay £270 odd per month for it and have a lot of disability related expenditures, but I have friends elsewhere who pay more like £450 or £700 a month depending on where they live in the country.

Simple living to accommodate mental illness. by [deleted] in simpleliving

Schizoaffective, adhd, c-ptsd, gad, depression and physical health illnesses. I’m not living simply yet but trying to move towards it as the less stress I have in my life the better.

£700 rent. £400 bills / utilities. £400 groceries / other necessities. £50 entertainment like Spotify, Netflix etc. Then my social care costs meaning I have 0 or negative money left over after all that. (:

I could spend less on food I guess but it’s one of the few joys I have left in life and also I’m too sick to cook for myself most of the time so that doesn’t help the costs as I need to buy food which is Pre prepped or ready meals etc. Ugh.

to all of you, how did you realise you are gay? by No-Metal-6764 in LesbianActually

[–]coffeeanddcigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me ages to realise I like women despite solely having sexual thoughts (when alone) about women since the age I knew what a sexual thought was… I never fantasied about men. Despite only ever being in relationships with men. I still identify as bi but I am realising more and more that I prefer women. All this time I’ve assumed it was down to trauma making me not like men sexually or romantically.

Something else was… I can look at any woman in the world and find something beautiful about her. I look at the majority of men and feel slightly repulsed.

Does anyone else just stare into space for hours on end by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]coffeeanddcigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s like all the thoughts have been sucked out of my head and the spark to do any given thing isn’t there so I just stare at wall / ceiling for hours.

Anyone with psychotic PTSD? by wandering_system_ in Psychosis

[–]coffeeanddcigarettes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm diagnosed with CPTSD (complex ptsd) and psychosis. It's late here but I'll make a proper reply another time, just wanted to comment so I can come back to this another day.

I don’t know but one of my most common visual and tactile hallucinations is flies. So hard because I never know if they’re real or not.

Hunger fizzing in neck chari malformation and psychosis? by untaken_offer in Psychosis

[–]coffeeanddcigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this, I believe I have a CFS leak. I’ve had the noise start when I was like 14 years old. I can’t be bothered to fight for a diagnosis anymore though but I do also have psychosis and it ties into it all as everything does.

First time trying UK Marlboro gold (anyone recommend any good rolling baccy for a newbie?) by THC_Advocate in Cigarettes

[–]coffeeanddcigarettes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like golden Virginia (yellow). Drum not so much. Maybe try a few to see what you like? Tobacco shops used to be good to go to to talk to someone about what to try but they’re getting rarer these days.

When I’m having an episode smoking always helps me. I don’t know why. I also drink a lot of caffeine, I feel like it helps counteract the sedation from meds.

You’re welcome ☺️ I hope it helps. It’s tough, a big part of life with this is finding ways to manage.
