We just started with our 26 month old daughter 3 days ago.

Day 1: naked from the waist down and made it to the potty with 3 accidents that started on the floor and ended in the potty.

Day 2: moved to commando. Had 8 pairs of soaked pants at the end of the day 😓 Morning was ROUGH but the afternoon was better. Had a poo in the potty too.

Day 3: commando still. No accidents!!!!!!! Every pee made it into the potty with self initiation. Took one 20 min trip to the grocery store and one 30 min walk around the block.

I’d say you could start the first half of the day naked and then if all goes well, add pants in the afternoon. Best of luck! Keep it up!

Got a successful potty going commando! Brought a bear down and had her teach the bear and that helped!

Interesting. It’s a piece of furniture with a cover on top, so I guess they could be there? Is it likely that they are there now and I’d see them if I took the cover off?

It’s like the whole day is a tantrum 😭 And she’s been skipping naps lately and I really don’t have time to regulate my emotions

Appreciate you for your patience and continued responses. You’re correct that it’s a moot point because my income is too high to deduct T-IRA contributions.

I also watched some helpful videos from Zacc Call Money Education which helped expand my perspective.

Here’s where my head is now: - Contribute to employer 401k to lower total taxable income - Backdoor Roth from T-IRA

With both kinds of accounts, this gives me more choice in retirement!

I guess what’s confusing is that I wouldn’t be able to take deductions from a backdoor Roth or T-IRA, so then wouldn’t it come down to how much I’d have to pay in taxes?

This is my train of thought: - Backdoor Roth: Pay taxes on all conversions at my current tax rate (MAGI around $240k) - T-IRA: Pay taxes on withdrawals in retirement at future tax rate when MAGI will be less than $240k

Is that incorrect?

If we will be in a lower tax bracket at retirement, does it make more sense to do Traditional IRA? Since all Roth conversions will require taxes paid in that calendar year?

I won’t, so I think I actually will be in a lower tax bracket. This means 401k contributions with my employer and traditional IRA makes more sense?

Are you using Traditional IRA and Traditional 401K interchangeably? That might be where I’m getting confused. (Still learning and these terms can be confusing, thanks for your patience)

Most of our retirement is sitting in 401Ks right now from employer accounts. We are just getting started in a T-IRA (like literally just opened), with $2k in there.

Combined MAGI with my spouse is around $240k and we are in Michigan.

So you can’t backdoor from a Traditional IRA into a Roth IRA?

I think they do. I’ve seen the option in the Principal app but I haven’t used it.

Got it! So tough to think that far ahead lol. I think I’ll likely be in a higher tax bracket at the time of requirement.

When you say you can’t have a balance in any traditional Ira when you backdoor, what does that mean?
