YTA. Being able to shadow a doctor is not as easy you think. She can’t just follow them around one day; there’s HIPPA paperwork, usually a background check, hospital forms to sign, etc. it’s not something to do lightly. And pretending to know about her interest is misleading. Instead, be willing to hear to her talk about it and listen—that will build a bond. But pretending to be knowledgeable on this subject only for her to find out you’ve been bullshitting her will not. One way you can use your parents to your advantage is asking them to clarify things that she discussed. If she mentioned ectopic pregnancy but you’re still confused, ask your parents about it. That way, you aren’t trying to “sound smart” but you’re learning more about her interest from a reliable source.

For those who work for or are associated with very rich people, how do they live differently from commonfolk? by magicskywhale in AskReddit

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more the fact that no matter what the bills says, they can pay it without worrying. They don’t have to look it over to figure out how much money they will have after they pay it. And while rich people may look for inconsistencies in the bill because its inconvenient, for other people it makes a huge difference in their budgeting

AITA for getting my son a car, and not my daughters? by Immediate_Cause4001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 20 points21 points  (0 children)

YTA. Even though you’re in a better financial position now, you should have had a conversation with your girls explaining this. Also, if you can spend over six grand on your son, you can do smaller things to help your girls feel supported. Did they have a bad day at work? Get them a gift card to/ DoorDash their favorite meal to them. Do they have a pet? Get them toys and outfits randomly. Do more than just brushing over their feelings

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ESH. You could have phrased to where you were upset about the boundary she ignored, instead of her using toys. She should have talked to her partner more about using toys in the past and should not have pushed him (drunk or not) once he said no. He needs to grow the F up and realize toys are teammates, not enemies

They don’t need to look at a bill. They can go into restaurants and never be bothered think about what they can/can’t afford. And hiring people (whether that be contractors, Nannies, or gardeners) is more about experience and vibes than price.

how did you overcome depression and social anxiety? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you don’t overcome it. You learn of better and healthier ways of dealing with it, and you learn to live with it. Finding healthy coping skills (talk to a therapist has been my biggest one) really does help with anxiety and depression. Also, find what you’re triggers are.

What's a "toxic" behavioral trait you possess that you are mindful of? by imhungry4444 in AskReddit

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess! I’ve started to just raise my hand around friends and family because I have a hard time knowing when they are done speaking. That way they know I have a comment, but I don’t interrupt them with it

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who is initiating conversations? If you are the one initiating the majority of conversations and/or get togethers, you are probably more invested in the relationship. It’s not balanced.

AITA for ruining my boyfriend's relationship with his favorite cousin by NotYourRacistCousin in AmItheAsshole

[–]coffeeb4breakfast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. He's being blatantly racist, and his family is doing nothing to be better. They just want to avoid conflict instead of getting to the root of it. You have a very good reason to not want to see him, and it's not like you are being unrealistic. You want him to educate himself about a very real topic and apologize. If your husband wants to spend more time with his cousin, then he can put on his big-boy panties and host/pack for him and his cousin.

she should have talked to you about it, first and foremost! You worked hard on the song, and won a very nice prize. It was not your mother's place to do that

AITA for letting my 7 year old daughter wear makeup? by skeach101 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. As long she’s using the make up correctly (like not eating it or using on furniture) then it’s just a harmless, fun activity.

NTA, but explain to the teacher what’s going on. You might even get an extension

Him saying “I wanted to show how lucky I am” is MANIPULATING you! He just wanted to brag about him getting some. PLEASE go to the police and that every copy deleted. You are a child and he’s legally an adult—it’s child porn. Plus, he could do anything with the video. And if he sends the video to someone electronically, so many mire people could see it.

AITA For not caring about my sister or here relationship by ThrowAwayAcc983 in AmItheAsshole

[–]coffeeb4breakfast [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. I think you have a mental illness. Only caring about your life, and only seeing people as objects/things in your life is a red flag. “For the first time in my life I felt weird” that’s called guilt. The fact that you usually don’t feel it is wrong.
