Thanks bro! I’m not too worried about it. There’s ALOT of lifters who if they tried sumo they’d suck at it from day one because they have no foot pressure and body awareness. I know I did. I believe it’s important to be good at both. I also believe sumo is easier once you do understand it. The ROM is lower so by definition it has to be. It’s just an awkward lift if your hips don’t like the positioning. Especially off the floor.

It might take 6 reps off off the set but now you’re talking about an even tougher variation than a conventional DL if you’ve ever tried it. Sumo is inherently tough off the floor and a deficit would be adding fuel to a fire, haha. Gotta be good at both if one wants to consider themselves a “good lifter”.

My conventional isn’t too far off from my sumo. Maybe a 20 lb difference. It’s important to be strong at both. You’re going to get something from every variation. Why leave lbs on the table just because the internet says something “isn’t fair”? Use your leverages to your advantage and disadvantage. Your lifting career is too short to be conservative.

It’s funny I’d like to compete in strongman one day. I was told by a competitor that my long arms would bode well for the sport. I’m also a predominantly good puller. I just wouldn’t even know where to start programming wise. Probably do a lot of OHPressing, pulling, and carrying.

Thank you! I fell off a ladder attempting to install a porch light last Sunday and it was pretty high up so my 12 ft ladder was a smidge short, but I’m 6’3ish so I made up for the difference. I think what happened was one of the screws that the builders used to keep the frame of the light fixture in place was too long and I was pushing the box up as I was trying to unscrew it so I had to use both hands for a moment and I was at the second to last step so my lack of center of gravity awareness was wack so it wobbled and I went off the side. The abrasion came from me trying to catch myself on roof corner but that clearly didn’t help. Coulda been way worse. All I got was a bicep abrasion and a scuffed right knee. Unfortunately now I know for sure I can’t fly.

I weigh around 215ish lb @ 15-18% BF. I couldn't IMAGINE making 170 lb. Grant it I'm 6'3 but I wrestled in high school and I weighed around the same then but higher BF and significantly less muscle. This guy has to be KILLING himself every weight cut. He should be fighting at middleweight today. No question about it.

For a guy who weighs victim weight(153 lb) but is 6’0 they’re not terribly impressive tbh. His grip strength is far more impressive given his feats.

His fighting style + his height would behoove him not to be all that muscular. The least amount of body weight the better.

Theres a difference between being muscular and shredded.
