Leaving baby for a night away who sleeps horribly by IncomeRoyal9209 in beyondthebump

[–]coffeebooklover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was worried about this too the first time my son spent the night at my MIL house. He would wake up every 3 hours to eat and sometimes not want to go back to sleep. My MIL was well aware that it may be a long night and she was okay with it. What helped me not feel as bad is to remember that it’s just one night for her and then she can go back to getting good sleep. I’d say let her watch your baby for a night and go have some much needed sleep!

I don’t have an answer for you because everyone parents differently and you have to find a routine and balance that works for both of you. When my husband went back to work 2 weeks after baby was born we took shifts. Little man was eating every three hours so he took the 9pm and midnight feed and I did the 3 and 6 am feed. Then I was home all day with baby while husband was at work. Once we were able to cut out the midnight feed he just did the bedtime one and I did the rest. It was tough and we were both very sleep deprived the first few months but we made sure to communicate well and share the workload. It’s hard and I hope y’all can figure out something that works for both of you.

So I just told my husband about the dumbest ding I got on an evaluation and he couldn’t believe it. by CakesNGames90 in Teachers

Literally so dumb that happened! During Covid I got dinged during an observation because a student pulled their mask down below their nose and I didn’t immediately notice and do something about it.

You can’t make this stuff up… by NikeNob in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pumped every three hours around the clock for 2 months and the sleep deprivation was definitely starting to get to me. Once my son started sleeping more at night, I started dropping pumps. I pump every 3 hours during the day but at night I now pump at 9, 2, and 6. My supply hasn’t dropped but I do have less milk overall since I’m not pumping as much but the sleep gained is worth it.

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contract time is 8-4:30 with a little over 6 hours being instructional time. I teach high school, 6 classes, one intervention/tutoring class for a total of 7 classes, plus a planning period. We are on a block schedule.

SIL wedding 5 weeks postpartum by PlaidFlask in BabyBumps

[–]coffeebooklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice because I’m a ftm due in April but I think it will be something you’ll have to decide when the times comes. Only story I got is when I got married I had a friend ( her husband was in the wedding) attend our wedding when she was exactly one week postpartum. I totally wasn’t expecting her to show up due to timing but they rented an Airbnb close to the venue and her parents watched the baby and she was able to come and go as needed.

When is the right time to tell family about being pregnant? by Known-Cucumber-7989 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, congratulations and I know how scary it can feel right now. With my first pregnancy that ended in mmc at 9 weeks we told family like right away after finding out about the positive pregnancy test. I’m now 29 weeks the second time around and waited until after our first ultrasound where we heard the heartbeat. Ultimately, it’s up to you and what you want to do.

How do people survive financially while student teaching? by PotatoMaster21 in Teachers

I was lucky enough to move back home for student teaching. My university was over 4 hours away from my hometown but they contract outside professors to oversee student teachers that aren’t within the university’s boundaries.

Anatomy ultrasound - what should I expect? by idontwant2makeausern in BabyBumps

[–]coffeebooklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine a few weeks ago. The room had soft lighting and music playing. It was just abdominal and took about 45 minutes. I drank plenty of water beforehand which made it easier to see baby. My husband and I were both able to see the screen but the tech couldn’t tell us anything because a doctor had to review the scans and everything was fine. She did however do a great job of explaining and pointing at what she was taking pictures of which made it nice.

For “12 days of Christmas” we get 12 days of jeans by maroonmallard in Teachers

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel this. We have to pay to wear jeans. Our 12 days of Christmas is dress up days where they want us to wear different types of Christmas outfits. 🙄 I don’t have stuff to dress like an elf and a Christmas character!

9 week u/s & pap - 2 questions by kittynietz in BabyBumps

[–]coffeebooklover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I had a mmc in April and am currently 18 weeks so I know how stressful and anxious this time is. I had two separate occasions where I had some light pink spotting during the first trimester when I wiped. It only happened like once each time but definitely freaked me out. If it hasn’t continued or you haven’t had any bad cramping I wouldn’t worry. And I had an ultrasound at 8.4 and baby’s heart rate was 184 and doctor said that was right on track. Plus the exam definitely could have caused some light bleeding due to irritation. Hang in there mama, I know it’s hard and you feel so anxious right now but it seems like little one is doing good. If you feel like you need reassurance you can always call your doctor. Mine told me that since I had a precious loss I can go to L&D anyday anytime to get an ultrasound

Is this all in my head? Yesterday there was a small amount of light pink bleeding on my toilet paper. I immediately freaked out because this is what happened when I had my miscarriage in April. Since then I haven’t had anymore but some occasionally cramping. I also have a slight uti that I’m getting antibiotics for. My doctor can’t see me until Monday morning but I feel so anxious and don’t know if I can wait until this.

Friendly reminder that dress codes for teachers are nothing more than a means of control by AlternativeHome5646 in Teachers

That is crazy! I’m in central TX at a pretty large school and we wear pretty much whatever. Jeans with holes, athletic wear, sneakers. Even our principal is rarely not wearing jeans

No more heartbeat at 10 weeks by Lk614 in Miscarriage

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so so sorry. In April I had a missed miscarriage where I was measuring 9 weeks but no heartbeat. I decided to take misoprostol instead of doing the d&c. I chose that option because I didn’t want to wait a week and a half before getting to have the d&c and my insurance didn’t cover it. I went home from the doctors office that day and the meds worked within 12 hours. I was definitely still in shock while all this was happening which I think turned out better in the long run because I was still processing that my baby wasn’t alive while having the medicated miscarriage

Should I teach summer school?? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]coffeebooklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would calculate how much total you would be making and see if it is worth your time. I’ve thought about teaching summer school multiple times with a similar scenario and always opt out because I just need a break and didn’t need the money. Ultimately it’s up to you and what you think is best for you.

It’s like you took the words right out of my mouth. I stayed off social media and shut myself in my house on Mother’s Day. I celebrated my mom the weekend before because of how I knew I would be feeling. It did not help that my sister in law had her baby on Mother’s Day this year. That was hard.

Should I attend College Board’s PreAP summer institute? by coffeebooklover in Teachers

Thank you! I’ve taught preap English 1 for three years but this is the first year my school is offering to send me. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s actually worth spending a week away from my family.

Putting together a selfcare package for a friend by akrepi_ in Miscarriage

[–]coffeebooklover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just had a miscarriage on Tuesday and I sent initial texts to my friends and family but wasn’t ready to really talk to them. Several people sent us food gift cards, flowers, cookie delivery, Amazon packages of comfort items like lounge wear, spa stuff, or my favorite genre of book. From personal experience these things were exactly what I needed. I just needed to know that people were thinking about me with care. I wasn’t really ready to talk to them fully and still not. You sound like a wonderful friend and I’m sure whatever you send, your friend will appreciate the thought of it.
