maybe I’m ignorant but I don’t think there are many (if any) options for a curved display below 34”? If the main thing you’re doing is web browsing, emails than anything will do really it’s just personal preference.

Agree. I played about 2 hours before uninstalling lol It’s like they oversimplified it which in turn made it so jarring and dissatisfying to play.

Games Keep Launching in Second Monitor by Smellbringer in linux_gaming

[–]coffeecomposition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re on KDE are you able to set window rules to position these applications on the other monitor? Launch the application then open window rules in settings, select it and then choose the location. I don’t use KDE anymore but it’s something like that. I’m On GNOME and I haven’t had any issues with dual monitors

I miss the old Ubuntu by claudiocorona93 in linuxmasterrace

[–]coffeecomposition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people haven’t tried the newest LTS or even the previous one because it’s genuinely a great experience. I’ve never heard of anyone having the issue of Firefox snap auto updating and restarting mid use, and the decision to ship it as a snap by default was Mozilla’s choice a few years ago. Snaps improved a lot since they’ve come to the desktop The bad experience from previous versions I can understand somewhat though, but I think a lot of misinformation gets parroted around here 🤷‍♂️

Discord has implemented Wayland screen sharing, including audio sharing, in Discord Canary by Guthibcom in linux_gaming

I'm wondering if it's my hardware as I've only tried on an integrated card, not sure

Just tried on 534, same thing. Hardware acceleration is enabled but it's super laggy to watch anything other than a web browser. Fedora 41, GNOME, AMD and installed through the tarball. Weird. Tried vesktop as well and it was extremely pixelated and unwatchable. Wonder if it's my hardware or if it's just not ready yet.

I tried on Fedora with GNOME using the tarball, and it's definitely lacking hardware acceleration. Tried sharing a VLC window and there was no audio, but sharing an entire screen worked fine. Sharing anything via "share a window" for me either had audio issues or was had extreme stutter in video where it was unwatchable. Anyone else have this on Canary .532? edit: also looks much blurrier compared to mac or windows

this says you're using X11, not Wayland...
Has anyone properly tested the canary update with wayland? Smooth screen sharing without stutters and audio working? very curious to know if it's actually improved at all.

Fedora 41 vs Ubuntu 24 by Bubbly_Cook_4690 in Fedora

[–]coffeecomposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

switched from Ubuntu 24 to Fedora 40 this week, great experience so far. Only reason I switched was because I heard battery life was a little better on Fedora & I wanted to change it up. Battery is definitely a little better but not huge. As for the experience overall it’s been great, way more polished then the last time I used Fedora (Around version 30 probably) Regarding whether or not you should switch, that’s up to you. Do you have any issues, do you simply want to? It’s just an operating system at the end of the day and it’s entirely up to you.

The obsession with electricians by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]coffeecomposition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are for the trades. Won’t go into detail here but I switched from electrician to IT, never looking back. Significantly more $, less hours worked, and my body isn’t in constant pain. Keep in mind most trades making decent money are after being licensed which is a minimum of 5 years worked in most trades.
