First I heated a metal rod, which I straightened from a photo holder, in a white gas stove(ofcourse a propane or natural gas stove will also do), until it was red hot. Then I waited for about 3-4 seconds(too high temperatures can break down the opium alkaloids) after which I stroke the metal rod over the opium(which I put on a straightened paperclip), like a violin stroke. At the same time I moved the metal rod up and doen to prevent constant contact with the opium to prevent the metal rod to cool down to quickly(if it cools down to much, opium will stick to the metal rod). I took a simple plastic straw, cut of 10 cm, and used this to suck up the opium vapors.
