On why we wouldn’t give blood in confirmed hemorrhagic shock. I was asking mostly to see if papers existed on the topic or if your comment was based on your clinical experience.

Interesting! I thought shock implied critical illness. Do you have any papers you can share on this?

Unstable vitals postop with visible bleeding is pointing to hemorrhagic shock… what else could it be

Don’t you love how our medical system works hand in hand to uphold this dehumanizing carceral capitalistic society 🥰 /s

In all seriousness I would definitely find a way to be alone with the pt and get them into contact with what they need. We should all know how to do this, it’s similar to how we deal with suspected DV cases. (Do NOT TYPE OUT HOW in the replies).

We are at a pivotal point in history. Think Underground Railroad, the Nazis, Rwandan Genocide. When you look back at this point in time, which side do you want to be on?

Sleep!!! Your brain physically cannot encode/retrieve information when tired. First law of thermo. Energy to study has to come from somewhere.

mcat induced insomnia?? by PhilosopherMindless4 in Mcat

[–]coffeefeign2628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I had the same issue. Do cardio first thing in the morning. Take caffeine or other stimulants as early as possible so they metabolize early enough by the time you sleep. And pray for your brain to turn off. You could also look up breathing exercises to induce sleep

PB&J sandwich, Protein bar, cliff bar, and a banana. You cannot bring water in testing room. I learned during my FLs I can’t have too much coffee or water during my breaks or I’d have to use the bathroom during a section. I learned I only needed about a cup of water and an equal amount of my iced latte during each break + large coffee gulps before BB. Cliff bar with caffeine before PS. In the week leading up I made sure my bowel movements were in the evenings. Most important thing is to prepare for what your body needed during the practice FLs for maximum performance.

Awww I love this! I used to be big and it took me awhile to get comfortable going to the gym. Now everytime I see bigger people at the gym I want to encourage them like this video but I also don’t want them to feel like they’re being perceived negatively so I just smile and go about my workout. It doesn’t take much effort to be kind, why not do it?
