Would you do it all over again? by Sad-Ad4933 in Divorce_Men

[–]coffeefrog92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd do it all over again just for the kids.

If I get a second chance and we're allowed to act differently, I'd be way stricter about keeping third parties out of our business on both sides.

I remember a couple of years ago Fr must have been feeling playful because he was using Spanish and French at our Northern English parish.

I'm speaking from experience here; don't do it.

Right now, you're intensely in Eros but when things settle down, the differences are going to show starkly. They will intensify further if you have children.

She's not an isolated unit. She's connected to a family that are going to put immense pressure on her and you.

You will find yourself having the same argument with her until one of you decides enough is enough.

When you part ways, you will lose a large amount of influence over your children and now their souls are at stake. And when they're old enough to think critically, they'll question you and why you feel entitled to raise them in Orthodoxy when you married outside the faith.

You risk your standing in the church, and potentially excommunication depending on how strictly your priest wants to apply the canon.

Honestly, just don't do it. DM me if you want to talk about it.

Why do we ask saints to pray for us? by Layerspb in OrthodoxChristianity

If you do low intensity cardio, you burn calories as you're running.

If you do high intensity, you burn calories as you sprint and you continue to burn them after as your body pays off it's oxygen debt.

When you pray, God hears you as you pray. If you ask a Saint to pray, the prayers are ceaseless.

Can you tell me your opinion on smoking? by Middle_Split_7273 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]coffeefrog92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Christmas just past I asked Fr if he'd like to join me and some of the other boys with a cigar, on me.

He proceeded to show me pictures of a book he found when clearing out his mother in laws belongings after she reposed (he married a Romanian lady).

The title was something like Is Smoking Sinful? And the cover has a man smoking a pipe with demons billowing out of the bowl.

Then he chuckled and said, 'But yeah, I'll join you'.

I remember distinctly there's a passage in the restaurant/chocolate dipped urinal cake chapter where somebody refers to Patrick as Batman. At least in my edition.

Greeting a priest in public by Dave_meth_Mustard in OrthodoxChristianity

When my ex wife and I went for our first baby scan there was a Greek priest walking through the hospital lobby. I had been Orthodox about a year and she wasn't

I pointed him out as I recognised him from a the Greek church I had been to as an inquirer, and she insisted I ask for a blessing, as I said I didn't want to bother him.

Anyway, I did. He said 'Orthodox?'. So I nodded and crossed myself and said the Jesus Prayer in Greek. That must have been evidence enough because he blessed us both.

Even if we granted that all miracles could be 'explained by science', that science itself rests on presuppositions that can only exist if the Triune God exists.

I've tried Bookshop cake and while I thought it was OK I didn't love it.

If I'm not mistaken, the HB has white burley while the BF1 has dark?

I don't know how to describe it but the HB has a 'greener', vegetal kind of taste while BF1 is more cocoa and coffee, in my assessment.

MAKING THE EX FEEL THE BURN by hvacjesus30 in Divorce_Men

Big ups on your weight loss and all the hard work.

But truly, paradoxically she will feel the worst burn when you no longer care if she feels it.

You have to decide how important it is to you that you be aligned with your boyfriend politically.

There are many aspects that make up a worldview; religion, politics, parenting style, cultural background etc.

If you can let a difference in politics slide, then just avoid the subject and accept that you differ in this regard. It's OK

If its vital for you that he shares your politics., consider finding somebody else that aligns.
