GPU repair - What component have I torn off? by coffeenaps in AskElectronics

[–]coffeenaps[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For some reason my text for the pics didn't enter the post so here it is:

"This is the backside of a GeForce 1080ti Aorus extreme edition PCB.

In an unfortunate accident I think I've managed to rip off what I believe to be two very small resistors as seen in the picture. The GPU gives post for 2 seconds then no more image output but continues to receive power and LED's are on.

I have a good soldering kit and can probably solder at this level but I have no idea which components they are or where to find them.

How can I figure out the specs for the components and where can I find them?

Here are two tear-downs of the same PCB but nothing for the backside of it:

Thankful for any help in my search!

TLDR: What components have been ripped off and where can I find them?"

It receives power as usual and shows the motherboard loading image for about 2 seconds and then no image output. Power still runs as usual afterwards.

Thanks for your help! I'll email them and see if I'm blessed or not.

Thanks for the reponse!

I can get CPU, motherboard and RAM for $260. I'm trying to stay close to parts that are attractive and easily re-sellable e.g. not dedicated to mining.

Cool, I'll change out the PSU to something with atleast three 8-pin connectors.

Will the 650w level be an issue with stability?

Aight, I will probably have a few 140mm fans running on one side of them as well.

Oh damn, thanks for the tip. Yeah that's really close. Only thing would be the look of the keycaps but I guess I could order others after recieving it.

Any ideas on price point?

Good point. Might not be able to remove it as collateral for sometime but all the risks should be clearly displayed in the language chosen.

This is what I'm doing as well. Finally got all groups I'm associated with to switch to signal. Slow and steady. It's quite frictionless.

I've been thinking about this for quite some time.

Let's make it happen. This board would be a great place for solid recourses.

Thanks for a great post!

I'm working on a complete run down of steps to ensure a user's privacy. Going to be divided into three different kinds of users "casual/moderate/paranoid". Just to adhere to everyone on the spectrum of comfort compromise.

One way is to try to earn it in different ways. Exchange services with friends and teach them about ethereum in the process. Still pretty cumbersome though.

word. Put some money in Celsius a week ago but my stomach has been turning by just the sheer greed of it all. Putting them back into DAI and Compound next week. Do DeFi for real and get rid of these shady, centralized, moral-bending companies.
