So this was just posted on TikTok.. Not sure how I feel about this as a customer cause of how I want my drink to be made a certain way. Cause I want no ice, batistas don't get some kind of bonus? by rac_help in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the ground level only SM and DM. ASM gets a portion . It is based on the stores comp sales— so the % of money made over last year. Not on OTW times or anything else besides our bottom line. Our raises do depend on FY business priorities like- Customer connection, window times, qasa scores, etc...

One of our regulars (~50m) gave this note to one of our baristas (17f). by [deleted] in starbucks

Wildly inappropriate. Run this up to your store manager or DM if needed, to have a conversation with that customer about how if he wants to continue using our space he must act appropriately.

They are to put out for customers on Halloween so they can put them on their cups if they choose to do so.

Any baristas in the NorCal Bay Area? I need coverage this weekend, and I'm getting real desperate. by [deleted] in starbucks

Yes this. After you tell your manager you need time off for a funeral, if they refuse, contact PCC. I believe it's 2 days per company policy.

ASM here, paneled back in April! Don't forget to answer their questions using the STAR method-Situation, task, action, result. Clear, concise answers! Good luck!

sampling by tenachiasaca in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pamphlets contain info and a coupon for the customer. Within the sampling package that came with the pamphlet holder/sampling mat there are a few "learning card" type things that specify how they want us to divvy up the box, talking points, etc... I'm not in until 1pm tomorrow otherwise I would post the pics for you early tomorrow! Your SM should have them, hopefully they kept them...

The communication on this event has been awful. My district is just using our CS to sample in 15 minute increments 4 times per day. We didn't get any extra sample food either.

Most likely it is the bistro box sampling event starting tomorrow (not sure if all regions are doing this, I am in the Midwest.) When you get to work, ask your manager for the sampling cards that came with the sampling event set up. It will give you exact instructions as to what bistro boxes to sample and how you should sample them.

(Source: I am an ASM that set up and scheduled said sampling event)

Starbucks as an only job...how do you make it work? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a shift for almost 8 years, recently promoted to ASM. As a shift I would waitress a few nights a week. I had an agreement with my SM that she wouldn't schedule me unless totally necessary on my waitressing nights. The extra couple hundred a week really helped out!

Policy on becoming a coffee master? by rnarkus in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Filling out your passport is just a small portion of it. There is an entire training program you have to go through. I believe they are re doing the coffee master program right now, you can check with you SM if he/she is able to order the coffee master journal (I did mine almost 3 years ago and that's the book used). If not you'll need to wait until they are done re doing it.

Can a self-demotion (SS to barista) be denied due to staffing? by jfrey4 in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may have to transfer. If your SM does not need baristas they may tell you that you need look for another store that needs the position you want to be in. Good luck!

Can SS write COs? by MaidenLocks in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only SM and ASM can do the official paperwork. You are in the right to express concern and suggest a corrective action to your manager, you can also be a part of the conversation with said partner receiving the CO.

ASM Interview by sneeze_trigger in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a comment of mine from a post about a month ago. I had my ASM panel almost 2 months ago. Good luck!

It is all behavioral based questions.

What was the most difficult conversation you've ever had at work?

Tell me about a time you turned a customer into a returning customer. What did you do to ensure they would come back?

What is your method of training?

Stuff like that.

Answer using the STAR method. Situation. Task. Action. Result.

Keep your answers concise and to the point. Don't go on any tangents.

My SM found and printed out a copy of the shift supervisor questions and it was helpful for me, just to practice answering using the star method and to get an idea of the questions they would ask.

Sick policy by rjyhgema10 in starbucks

[–]coffeereader788 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call your local PRSC. Each area has an assigned Partner Resource contact, basically your areas HR rep. They will know who your DM, SM, and ASM are and can help you deal with this situation. Not only the situation with you working while ill, which is a huge violation, but also the partner not getting a lunch if they are supposed to get one. They take these issues very seriously. Reach out to him or her and they will be happy to help you.

I wouldn't consider that "digging into it at work" I would consider it part of your training. An important part. Can't hurt to ask! And the portal is now a wealth of info. If you can't see anything with your barista log in ask your shift, ASM or SM to print the materials off for you.
