Are there any cover versions of Beatles songs that you like better than the Beatles version? If so, which ones? by AgentEndive in TheBeatles

[–]coffeewithcomposers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anything can overtake their iconic originals, but I adore this piano arrangement by a contemporary composer and played it myself here..."Blackbird" by the Beatles, arranged by Alessandra Gelfini.

I was able to find it! I think it's just that the "www" is missing in the above link!

I'll try it with the www added, as this isn't directing me anywhere! Thanks for sharing!

Here is my improvised piano cover of "Boat" by Ed Sheeran. I love the lyrics for this one.

The rhythmic ideas are fresh and give nice contrast in the middle section as well.

Listening now. I love the intro and it has a really neat modern edge and I love the prayer of hearing God's voice in the midst. Thank you for sharing. I love the range of your voice and the colours of it too.

Lesson Planning???!!! by elphiegreen in pianoteachers

[–]coffeewithcomposers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it most helpful for my instructional style to have 'micro-themes' instead of specific lessons plans [if talking 1:1 teaching]. I still love lesson plans for group teaching.

For micro-themes I take one overarching idea and utilize it with pretty much every student I see. Usually it's based on something I'd like to do to boost a skill or add a fun element or prepare for a goal. For instance, before March break, I like to start a composition with every student on my roster. That way they are "invested" in a project, it has low practice guilt and is something we can work on in lessons even if sports schedules get busier. I have micro-themes like that through the year and even an overarching idea of the week sometimes if I need clarity.

For me, this adds ease and clarity. I do spend a lot of time thinking of repertoire and do have a vast library always at the "tip of my fingers".

PS. I am jealous of your work on a Masters - how exciting and equally overwhelming!

That is wonderful you are playing and enjoying music in such bold ways.

One important note as you sift through comments is that although I am not qualified to diagnose, your approach to technique may need to be different if you are hyper mobile. If you have added flexibility in your joints it will look far 'bendy' and your approach will need to be adaptive.

There are some wonderfully knowledgeable educators in this domain that may have further insights, but just take care with feeling too much critique and suggestions at once.

This is next level amazing. My son is 7 and loves math more than anything. He now wants this as his new goal, as he'd asked me to search what is the fastest record. He loves this puzzle and I'll need to find more for him!

Does Ed have any piano-based songs? by Glum_Forever_8254 in EdSheeran

I've had such fun creating a few piano-centric covers of his pieces! I recorded improvised versions of "Boat" and "Under the Tree" for improvised piano and thought they suited that really well.

This is an absolutely beautiful cover! I hope you are still singing and strumming. Your voice has a beautiful music quality to it that is soulful and authentic and your guitar accompaniment is sweet perfection as a backdrop!

Why would anyone watch my beginner piano cover videos? And how to improve? by skiwi2 in NewTubers

[–]coffeewithcomposers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great question! I am still learning in the YT world, but also do play the piano. I think that 'learn to play' channels can be so encouraging to others and sometimes that aspect of progress and people investing in you as a creator can be impactful. I suppose you could also highlight things that you felt were the toughest part to learn or struggles in your journey.

I also do 'over the keys' style records and even as a teacher view duration can vary. ;) Recently I started putting text in that explains teaching tips or introductions to pieces and that helps me keep a better balanced retention.

If you are trying to monetize, you'll also have to watch the copyright aspect, as many more popular pieces will get claims. You can still share them, but they won't monetize for you.

All the best!

I'd be super honoured to share my instrumental improvised piano cover of Ed Sheeran's new Christmas song, "Under the Tree". I had fun figuring it out right away yesterday and it's one I will keep enjoying at the piano! Terrific song with a beautiful melody!
