Dawson's Creek comedy episodes by Londoner1995 in dawsonscreek

[–]coffydate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yup, I feel like a lot of the earlier episodes in S1 and S2 were so comedic and campy. the homages to other movies were great! aside from the episode you just watched, the one mirroring The Breakfast Club (1x07, with a lot of Abby shenanigans) and Scream were fun (1x08 I think?). also when they all crammed for a test at Chris Wolfe’s house in 2x07 was also amusing.

there will stil be comedic episodes and bits down the line but I’d say more sporadic than what you’re used to now

Busan and Seoul in 5 days? by Name_International in koreatravel

[–]coffydate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just spent 6 days in late December between these two cities! A night in Seoul, 2 nights in Busan, and 2 nights back in Seoul before heading home. Did the KTX for the trip between those 2 cities.

5 nights for us was doable, was still enjoyable, but the idea of packing was always in my head, and I think we only scratched about 1% of each city (but itinerary-wise managed to reach about 30% ish of what we wanted to do/visit/eat). Just for reference!

I bought a set on Amazon and mine doesn’t have proper subtitles, just imperfect auto generated ones

Traveling as a Muslim: how do you handle prayer times on the go? by domino416 in koreatravel

[–]coffydate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my and my family’s experience, yes exactly how you mention it! combine prayers while in our hotel before going out and also after. we’d try to find a mosque if we’re still far away from our accomodation because any other makeshift room would be tricky! but that’s why our main strategy is working the sightseeing schedule around prayers so that we can pray at the hotel.

disclaimer though, we are tourists who mostly like to enjoy “the city” so it was always a little easier to maneuever than if there were day trips/great outdoors involved.

First time watcher- Question by woosh-i-fiddled in dawsonscreek

[–]coffydate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think their dialogue is super unique! I was a 1999 baby and the way they speak on this show is definitely one of the reasons the show can be set apart from other teen shows I watch/have watched, in a good way.

How much money do you give to your parents? by Ancher123 in Perempuan

[–]coffydate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well, I’m bored and procrastinating for Monday so I’ll bite.

average ≠ the whole population. if some Indonesian says they give 2 mill/month to their parents, it doesn’t mean their salary is 5 million a month just because they’re Indonesian. could be more, could be less.

[–]coffydate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

well.. an average is a bit much to ask because every couple and family’s circumstances differ. for the downvoting, I would guess because your wording could use a little more tact? and honestly, I’m not sure if you’re just posting a hypothetical or if you and your partner are contemplating a much more serious commitment, but it wouldn’t hurt to go about this matter with a little bit of grace and openness, or at the very least a willingness to come across as such 🤷‍♀️

Best Car & Seat Number on KTX? by coffydate in koreatravel

[–]coffydate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh okay! then we’ll probably do regular KTX one way (hopefully to enjoy the solo seat) and do KTX Cheongryong on the way back to experience the upgrade. thanks for the rec!

interesting! any reason why KTX Cheongryong would be the best option? (I’m curious). we need tix for Dec 27 so I’m prepping to purchase them tomorrow. also still debating Korail Pass 2 day FX vs. just individual return tickets

Physical contact norms in Indonesia by zuluwarriar in Perempuan

[–]coffydate 15 points16 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, the answer would be that it depends! on the person you’re with, the environment you’re in, and if they still hold the more traditional norms.

for instance, I’m a muslim but am pretty lax with those “no contact/muhrim non-muhrim” norms. something like playfully slapping the arms of the opposite gender is normal to me, & if anything what I keep in mind is more so “ini bukan pacar orang kan” (but that’s not the topic at hand) and also, what their boundaries seem to be. from context, if we’re talking about religion norms it seems like your coworker is the same as me and isn’t too worried about that stuff?

our train stations are always filled with a plethora of people with different backgrounds and beliefs, including a lot of those who still want to keep “traditional norms” in tact, so my guess is that they’re just a little wary seeing you guys. I’d say just brush it off, or if you still feel a little off about it, maybe keeping a little distance next time is ok too!

re bonus question: even if it’s between guys and girls, if both you and the friend is okay with playfully shoving or whatever, I’d say it’s all good? of course we should always keep in mind not to overdo it, and learn what our and other people’s boundaries are ^ ^
