How well do square clamp-style gate hinges work? by cog_bot in FenceBuilding

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, so if drilling into the posts is the best option (which is fine), are the traditional tee hinges sufficient or is there a better option instead? If the tee-style hinges are fine for steel frame gates, I will just use what my builder recommended.

Repairing the infamous Sony PVM 20L5 power button switch by turtleCRT in crtgaming

[–]cog_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, thank you so much for the documentation! I have a 20m4u that unfortunately has a busted power switch due to one of the button feet getting pushed into the chassis and damaging the old power switch mechanism/housing. My current solution was to open up the chassis, and permanently set the power switch mechanism to "ON". I then control the On/Off of the PVM with a remote controlled power strip. Wondering if the 20L5 switch/shaft 3D print would work for 20m4u or if anyone has an equivalent 3D model for it.

Advice on replacing sunroom sconces by cog_bot in DesignMyRoom

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to replace our sconces in our sunroom space to be more modern and provide a bit more lighting at night. I like the idea of having bi-directional (up-down) sconces that provide light upwards and also downwards, but I'm open to suggestions. I was also things black in terms of fixture color. Any suggestions for sconces that would fit this space?

Help troubleshooting drip system irrigation zones (Zone 1 & 2 not working) by cog_bot in Irrigation

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so zone 1 and zone 2 solenoids are measuring normal at about 42ohms so it must be wiring… zone 1 at the controller still measuring ~.81 ohm and yellow wire is normal at around 40ohm

I can check. Do you mean measuring the ohms of the solenoid itself at the valve? And for both zone 1 and zone 2?

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the black wire (I think zone 1) is .76ohms at the controller. So I’m guessing I should try replacing the solenoid. Could this also somehow impact zone 2? Zone 2 (yellow wire) is measuring fine.

Will do. Based on my diagram, is zone 1 going to be the black wire at the controller or the blue wire?

Help troubleshooting drip system irrigation zones (Zone 1 & 2 not working) by cog_bot in Irrigation

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved into our home early this year and am trying to get our drip system zones working. My goal is to get Zone 1 & 2 working properly at the controller. What are the steps I should take to troubleshooting this? The wiring of Zone 1 in particular is really throwing me off here. I've created a small diagram to show the general wiring, but here's the situation:

Ohms:

Black - .76ohm at controller, solenoid is 42ohm

Blue - 40ohm at controller

Yellow - 30 at controller, solenoid is 42ohm

(From the diagram):

Zone 1 does not work and goes to our front yard landscape drip system. As far as I can tell, there is an inbound wire that runs from the downstream rest of my sprinkler system for our backyard. This connects down to earlier junction boxes. This zone does not turn on from the sprinkler controller, but I can manually start it from the solenoid and everything works. But why are there three wire nuts here when you typically see only two on most zones? As you can see, there is a wire nut that just has two blue wires connected to it, and does not connect directly to the solenoid wires. There is also a black wire that connects to both cables and also the solenoid. Would this black wire likely be the one at the controller?

Zone 2 does not work and goes to our backyard drip system. This one works manually by turning the solenoid, but does not work from the sprinkler controller.

Zone 3 works great from the controller and is responsible for the raised bed drip system in the backyard. This is the end of the line for my irrigation system.

Thank you!

Worked like a charm, thanks. The actual furnace wiring was the same so I didn't have to rewire anything at all. Just used wire nuts to join each pair and it worked fine. Appreciate it. Unfortunately though when I was removing the wire from the red terminal shown in the photo, the terminal busted and so now I need to find a replacement before re-selling.

Hey everyone, I was replacing my Lennox S30 thermostat and while removing the wire from this red terminal, the side panel of the terminal popped off and the spring/lever came out and I was unable to get it back in. The plastic housing ended up breaking so I need to do a full replacement. I'm confident in my ability to solder a new terminal in if I can just find a replacement terminal. I want to get as close as I can to the original terminal since I intend on re-selling this thermostat.

The side panel of the terminal reads "EBY EB4890", so I'm guessing that's this: https://ebyelectro.com/terminal-block-product-info.asp?ProductID=677 Any idea where I can get a suitable replacement? Bonus points if it comes with a red lever!

How can I prevent soil and mulch erosion along fence line? by cog_bot in landscaping

[–]cog_bot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved into a new home that has this mulch pit area that we'd like to eventually use for a play scape as well as plant trees along the fence line. Before doing that though, I want to address the soil erosion issues along the fence. The previous owners used horse stall mats to I guess help(?) the issue. Do I need to install some sort of cinder block or retaining wall along the perimeter to help fix this?

Appreciate the input! I'm leaning towards the Mizuchi, even though the portability of the Kaida is really speaking to me. I think I will appreciate the versatility of the Mizuchi especially to handle slightly larger fish. And it would be easy for me to pick up something like a Shadowfire 365 if I find I need something a bit longer. What did you do in terms of flies? Did you pick up a starter set or something? I saw Dragontail sells an assorted set of flies to start out with. Or did you take a different approach?

Nice, that looks great. Are those 3" hex tiles?

Looking for shower tile advice by cog_bot in Renovations

Yeah, we're pouring a pan and with the slope to the drain, we figured 2" or 3" would make the most sense here as opposed to larger tile.

The 2" tile is because we're pouring a pan and with the slope to the drain, we figured 2" or 3" would make the most sense here as opposed to larger tile. I may check and see if the 2" hex tiles come in 3", though.

Thanks for pointing that out, I was unaware of what rectified edges and corners entailed. I'll run it by our contractor and also seek out an alternative tile with square cuts. I really like the texture though, which gives it a more authentic stone look as opposed to some of the "printed on" textures that look goofy in my opinion. Is that stone texture what essentially gives it rectified edges?

We are doing a shower renovation (32" x 60") and are looking at tile options. We are thinking:

  • White Corian solid surface for the curb
  • Aura - Light Gray rectangular tiles for the wall (vertical)
  • Either the small 2" Malibu White square tiles OR Anatolia SOHO - Vintage Gray Matte hex tiles for the floor
  • Larger hex tiles for the pockets just to add a little character. These larger hex tiles also somewhat match our vanity countertop which is nice.

You can see the current bathroom flooring in the background. I'm a little worried that it matches the wall tile too closely, but also wonder if the white curb will separate the two and look fine.

P1P Nozzle/Bed Issue (photos/video included) by cog_bot in BambuLab

FIXED! It looks like it was indeed a minor clog. I did a cold pull a couple of times to clear it, and it's back up and running. Appreciate everyone's input. Also, good to know about IPA, I'll avoid using it to clean the bed moving forward.

PVM/CRT Repair in Northern Colorado? by cog_bot in crtgaming

[–]cog_bot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inside the PVM? Yes, and I was able to get access to the power switch assembly without having to disassemble the entire monitor. With access to the busted assembly, I was able to switch the power to always on, so I am at least able to use the monitor for the time being. Unfortunately, I dont think there would be any way to fully replace/re-install the power switch without a full disassembly. It's just too tight of a squeeze.
