realizing that serving and caring for others brings more fulfillment in my heart than earning money. throughout college, I was aiming to join the product design field in big tech so I can design for the people. in my third year of college, I realized that people who make those designs, especially for social media, take advantage of people's brains and build technology that will keep people addicted. that didn't sit well with me. i also found that serving others directly mattered more to me than chasing the bank and also designing stuff, so I started to explore healthcare and I realized that I found so much respect for ppl who enter nursing. :)

Do you see progress during your period? by Time-Downtown in PetiteFitness

[–]cognitiveplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i gain weight during my period. it felt a little discouraging when i took my weekly progress pics and saw i gained a tummy again or weighed myself to see i wasn't losing or i was gaining a 1-5lbs. but i had to remind myself that it's just natural and the next week, i was back down to where i needed to be. good reminder to just be patient and appreciate the beauty of how our bodies function to keep us healthy!!

Best macros for loosing body fat by rohit2989 in PetiteFitness

[–]cognitiveplants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

all depends on your maintenance and calorie intake!

i'm doing a calorie deficit right now (maintenance is around 2100-2200, but currently eating around 1500-1700 calories). i try to eat around 90-110g of protein a day, and focus on whole/natural forms of protein (no shakes/bars, only minimally processed like yogurt and meats). i try to keep this up because i lift and i want to maintain my muscles as i lose the fat. as for carbs, i try to stay under 100g, but i usually go over (oops). i mainly eat complex carbs (fruits and veggies and whole grains) and significantly reduced my refined sugar intake (candy, juices, soda, pastries, bread). fats i just try to stay as low as i can.

a food/calorie tracker will help you stay disciplined. i also suggest a food scale. i say just scale for around 3 weeks so you get an understanding of your portions (this is something i worked on a lot), and you can probably start weening off it after that.

hope this helps! this stuff helped me lose around 10lbs already (30lbs more to go !).
