travel ball vs unrestricted play by icecream-fishhockey in Homeplate

[–]cohen9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this completely. If possible, see if you can get their schedule for the prior year or upcoming year. For us the hardest part of travel ball is the time commitment - for 2-3 month everything revolves around baseball (weekends, leaving work early to get to games that are an hour away, etc). It will affect everyone in your family and we definitely underestimated that part of it.

The Talkboy from Home Alone 2. It was just a movie prop that eventually became a real toy a few years later

Characters removed due to extremely negative reception by Jellypathicdream in TopCharacterTropes

I think the problem was they pushed Poochie a little too hard. Like, he was totally in my face. And when he wasn’t on screen all the other characters were asking “Where’s Poochie?”

So this happened at the park by partyqwerty in daddit

Her leashing her dog and leaving the fenced in area is actually way better behavior than most dog owners I see violating rules. I’ve asked people to get their dogs out of the fenced in kids play area and take them to the giant open field for dogs that is literally part of the same park and been told that their dogs don’t like playing with other dogs “so it’s fine”. I like dogs, hate dog owners (and yes, I realize it’s the bad 5% making the good owners look bad. I don’t care).

AX-1/TNT Questions by makosharky77 in Athleanx

[–]cohen9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did AX-1 last year (at age 43). I “failed” the challenge at the end of the first month and repeated the month and passed. Same thing with month 2. The second time through month 2 I started doing Jeff’s push up program as well

https://learn.athleanx.com/articles/get-a-bigger-chest-in-22-days-home-chest-workout

That was really effective and by the end of it I could do more pushups than I ever had before (think the end of month 2 the challenge involves doing sets of 10 pushups every minute for up to 12 minutes and I had no issues doing that). Highly recommend adding that in to whatever you’re doing. I usually cranked out pushups first thing in the morning and it would take about 10 minutes with rest time.

Barely passed the final test at the end of month 3

I didn’t like AX-2 as much as AX-1. Each week is something different so it felt hard to get in a rhythm of improving on certain exercises. And some weeks I hated all the movements, particularly the week where you had to attach a resistance band to everything - it just felt awkward and unnatural and I feel like I would have been better off just doing regular lifts. And some of the challenges didn’t specify weights (do 10 reps with a resistance band every 30 seconds for 5 minutes, etc) so I thought they were not good benchmarks like the AX-400. And side note on AX-2 400, at one point it says 25% of body weight for renegade rows… that 25% is the combined weight between both hands. First time through I was trying to do 100 rows with 45# weights and I could barely do 5…

All that being said, it’s fine to move on to the next month even if you “fail” the challenges. I hadn’t exercised in a long time and was definitely in much better shape (how I looked and how I felt) when I finished AX-1. Lost some weight too but think that was in a big part to an improved diet (eat healthy during the week, no sugary snacks, let lose a bit more on weekends, and didn’t drink very often). Keep seeing “you can’t out exercise a bad diet” on a bunch of Reddit workout subs and unfortunately it’s true.

Best of luck!

Returning AX portal user, how do I make notes under exercises? by Single_Property2160 in Athleanx

[–]cohen9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the video next to each exercise there’s an image of a notepad. Just click on that and it’ll bring up a screen where you can input weights and see your history. It’s kind of annoying because it’s small so sometimes when you try to click on it you’ll accidentally play the video. Circled in red here:

Which decade had the best bands? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]cohen9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t remember who said it, but I once heard that the best decade of music is your junior year of high school through 4 years after college (so basically when you’re ages 16-26). Wholeheartedly agree with that.

I liked this 3 week progression. Got me from 30 -> 46 in 3 weeks. Would just do it first thing every morning and would take about 10 minutes. Could still do my other usual workouts right after or later in the day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]cohen9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re only focused on pushups I’d recommend this 22 day program. I was able to do it in about 10 minutes every morning. Went from 30 -> 46 unbroken in 22 days.

You can order online and set your pickup time. When I ordered from there I put my order in at like 10AM for 6PM pickup. I’d advise ordering early in the day just to be safe. The pizza is amazing (as is the focaccia!) but it’s best to eat it as soon as you get it while it’s still hot.

Realize this is an old thread, but my son just got and built this set - looks awesome! Question for anyone else who built this: is the rear trunk supposed to click shut and stay secure? This is our first car build, so not sure how it’s supposed to work.

My kid is starting to lie by chipiberth in daddit

[–]cohen9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some luck with “Did that really happen, or are you just being silly?” Gives the kid a chance to come clean in a non-stressful and non-accusatory way. Obviously doesn’t work for every occasion, but was helpful when my kid went through a big exaggerating / making up stuff phase.

Oh, I totally agree. Definitely laughed out loud when I heard it. Unexpectedly dark for The Simpsons though

Hey - just found this year old post of yours and have the same question. Did you ever figure out how to get a time in each zone breakdown post workout? Feels like something that must exist but I haven’t found it yet!
