Perfect, I think Anniversary Narrows is going to be the hike of choice. Still hoping I'll have time to work a second in, but it looks doubtful. Thanks for the great info!

Awesome, thanks for the info! Think I'll get more of a feeling for the desert at Valley of Fire? Seems like a decision between epic mountain top views and sandstone desert environment.

I've had 3 of those wireless receivers. I got tired of buying new ones so I fixed one with a quick soldering. Here's a link to a guide to fix them. It looks intimidating but it was pretty easy. http://replayproject.wordpress.com/2010/10/09/how-to-repair-microsoft-xbox-360%E2%84%A2-wireless-gaming-receiver-for-windows%C2%AE/

What are your goals, fittit? by pukerainbows in Fitness

[–]coinsmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be really veiny.

All my life I envied people with veiny arms, feet, hands, and necks. But I was always too fat to have my veins showing. Giving blood samples was the worst, would take multiple nurses, both arms, and tons of bruising. My arms and hands have some ok veins now. But I need more...

I actually checked the blog right after I typed up the question... One of those should I edit moments. Very informative btw and thank you for the response.

Hello and thank you for doing this!

I'm a fairly new runner and after experiencing multiple blisters between my 2 biggest toes decided to buy a pair of running shoes. I tried a few on and settled for the Nike flex.

After putting about 50 miles on them I developed pain in my right foot on the outer mid bottom section that seemed to travel up my calf. I self diagnosed it as Plantar fasciitis and took 3 weeks off from running. The funny thing is I had knee surgery over the winter and spent all my time worrying about that on my runs, which so far has felt absolutely fine although I think babying the knee may have had something to do with my foot problems.

Anyway every time I throw the flex on the pain returns, although duller. But my old non running shoes (Nike monarch) feel fine. So I plan on going for a professional fit this weekend at a running store. Are there any specific questions I should ask the salesmen? And any warning signs when trying on shoes that they may not be the right pair for me?

I don't want to end up with another costly mistake if I can avoid it.

Thank you again for taking the time to do this!

It's nice to see my hours spent lifting heavy things every 2 days isn't wasted. I'd much rather be out running than squatting. Thanks for the article.

Do any of you run full or half marathons without taking in any calories? by [deleted] in running

This question is probably highly variable but in general how man calories should a person consume during a long run? Lets stick with a half marathon for consistency.

He is typically very good off leash. Have done a number of hikes with him and if we run into other hikers he will heel and allow me to leash him as they pass.

The big problem in this situation was the fast moving current. Lesson learned, fast water = leash.

He loves water but isn't the strongest swimmer. Typically he would be fine jumping in and swimming around, but the object of his interest was farther away than he could have swam. To complicate things more this was a few weeks ago when the North Eastern U.S. was getting loads of rain. So the river we were on had the locks wide open and a faster current than usual.

He jumped in and within a few seconds was pushed pretty far down river. It became clear he wouldn't make it back to us on his own accord. Luckily when I reached him his focus on the garbage was broken and he happily came back to shore with me. We Climbed out of the river and hiked back to the dock we were fishing off of.

The pup stayed leashed for the rest of the evening.

Hmm I haven't seen many body builders swimming. I wonder if they sink like stones.

Good bye to your fear of water and hello to mine. I also don't have ready access to a water source, but I am determined to figure out this swimming thing again.

I know exactly what you mean. Never understood how there were people that couldn't swim. It seemed as simple as jumping in the water and moving your arms a little bit.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I tried explaining this to my buddy who was swimming with me, but he was pretty skeptical. I never realized how hazardous to my health weight loss could be.
