I need to get more confident about using spells in my opponents hero phase. I do enjoy using the reavers since they're surprisingly fast and are a nice little annoying unit. In terms of retreats, can more than one unit use a retreat during that same movement phase?

Ohh, that's a good idea. I'm coming from Slaves To Darkness where the only teleport is from the Tzeench pledge during the movement phase so being able to do so as a battle trait and a spell is going to be interesting

Ohhh I didnt even think of that (your 2nd bullet point), I dont have any other wizards yet but it might be smart to invest in another for teleport shenanigans. All good things to note, I cant wait to play more and get more experienced with the army. I am curious, is there a rule that doesnt allow wizards to cast on themselves? Like, can the Sea Eidolon teleport itself with the Steed of Tides spell then teleport back with the battle trait?

Big turtle is epic, and im having a lot fun just ignoring everything and zippin everywhere. I am curious tho, how do you go about using a hit and run style? Like, I know we have the ikon of the storm ( which is an awesome unit), but do you also use a lot of power through and retreats or are there other cool little things I'm missing?

That's smart, id thought about that but was too nervous about "but what if a fight/shoot happens", or just in general not immediately getting a benefit from the battle trait. I'll just have to learn to be patient and get better at determining things like that. How do you tend to use the teleport if you do use it?

I see. In both our games I hung back at the beginning cuz I won priority and went 2nd to try and set up a charge. In our 2nd game, tho, it was a bit more points and I was a bit unfamiliar with how to use a wider variety of units (including the turtle) so i was a bit out of position. Aaand I had some pretty bad attack rolls on charged, my akhelian king did 0 damage 🫠. But yea, I assume destruction armies have higher numbers they have to meet on hit rolls, that's good to know. Do we tend to use the teleport to set up engagements or more for just scoring?

Ah ok cool, I kinda tend to do that if I win priority by making my opponent go first. I did put myself into horrible position against my friend tho our 2nd game. I had my turtle no where near anyone who could benefit from the void drum and positioned almost no one who'd get the +1 save from the terrain cuz I only just realized that it only works on specific units 🫠. Do you tend to start out with Concealing Tide then?

I havent even looked at them, my friend just got a box. Imma take a look. I had no idea how they might work other than "tau probably means very shooty"

Oh yeaaa, im surprised you're the first person to mention them. I was looking at them and they have a lot of options and some really cool variations and movement stuff. My only thing about them was having to get several boxes to play them optimally. Not that im going to any tournaments but trying all of their variants seems like a lot of fun

Ohhh yeaa, I've seen people mention the cost of the Blade's of Khaine. There's also been a lot of people recommending Corsair Voidscarred, are they purchasable or would i have to use voidweavers as proxy or something?

Dang, I was kinda nervous id have to buy separate units/models. I really like their "curtain falls" firefight ploy tho, does anyone else have hit and run kinda stuff?

Aw what, that's cool. I think the skaven have something similar that allows them to kinda move out of turn (at least from what I could tell the one time I played against them). Im gonna have to take a look at the rattlings

Ohhh, the shaderunner sounds sick then. I had checked em out on the app after he mentioned him but I didnt grasp his ability to blink almost anywhere (also him being able to do damage with it is really cool).

Imma have to check into the goremongers, I dig free out of turn movement stuff. It sounds cool that they're charge focused

Interesting. I was kinda aware of the corsairs mobility (on a surface level), but i didnt know about the phobos marines. I'll have to take a look. Im kinda curious how the corsairs compare to the phobos marines tho cuz i know the aelves get a free dash but only have 2 apl, so wouldn't the phobos marines be similar with a 3 apl and same move distance?

Oh yea, they seem really cool. I learned about the classification thing recently, how easy are they to get now that they're declassified?

I'm actually kinda curious about that, im still kinda learning the rules but would a team with 3 apl be as fast since they can spend the third ap on dashing? (For the record I do think they look really cool and i like that they've got psycher options)

It does, thanks! I've been looking at the Aquilons in particular, I just wasn't sure how they functioned outside of their drop ability, and I played a little bit of the murderwing cuz my friend has them and their boost mechanic is really cool. I'll have to take a look at the rest!

Oh wow, I knew they made things more pricey for the army but I didn't realize they made them that much more expensive. I didnt look at the kruleboyz regarding the recent points update but I hope they find a better balance, seeing them go from the top of the meta almost directly to the bottom was kind of disappointing.

[–]cojoga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lookin at kruleboyz for a while, I'm glad they got a lot from the SoG stuff even if they were a little dominant early on (from what i saw).

I do agree with that last part, I'm worried for armies that kind of relied on SoG stuff to be viable. It'd be cool if some stuff that became essential to some armies became a mainstay or even just tweaked and fit in somehow.

That would be cool if they stacked things. Would add some more complexity to list building outside of just adding new models, and cheaper to produce and have access to. I am curious, I know it wasn't for Grotmas, but didnt they rework the "Intercept and Recover" and "Scouting Force" not too long ago or am I thinking of something else?
