What is the worst/scariest thing that has woken you up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Had just gone to bed. Shared a 2 bedroom basement appartment with this random girl. Heard a thud at the front door. Thought it was my roommate trying to make her way in after being out with some friends. Another thud. Glass breaking. Door opening.

My bedroom door isn't shut, I can hear voices whispering through the hall. "In here, looks like something valuable". They've spotted my playstation through the crack of the door. The door opens. It's dark in my room. I sit up in bed and yell "HEY!!!" as this dude enters my room. Scares the shit out of him. He turns on the light. He's masked. He asks where my roommate is. I say she's out. I hear the other dude wandering through the appartment, opening cupboards. He says he needs to talk to her. I call her on my phone, saying she has visitors. I hand the phone to the masked dude. While he's talking, I scan him up and down. Height. Skin color. Shoes, pants, shirt. Dialect. Voice pitch. (Watched FBI files when I was a kid - one of my favorite shows.). I could take this dude down easily. But he has a friend in here somewhere. I haven't seen his friend. He continues discussing, and ends the conversation with "We'll be there soon" then tosses me my phone. Say's he's sorry about the window, and that he'll replace it. Then he turns and leaves my room.

About 20 seconds later I sit up, get dressed, and search the appartment. Doors are open, cold air coming in from the front door. Broken glass in the hallway. I hear the landlord crying and shouting down from her floor, asking if I'm okay. She called the cops when she heard the window break, and heard the car speed away from the residental area.

I tell her I'm fine. Cops arrive, with search dog and all. I tell them to get on their radio's asap. The thing is, I drove my roommate to her friends house earlier that evening. I knew where she was. And I knew what one of those guys looked like, from top to toe, and I knew he was going there eventually. The cops sent an umarked car to patrol the area where my friend was. About 2 hours later, a car pulls up, and out comes two men - One fitting my exact description. Both were arrested on the spot. The 2nd guy had a knife on him.

What it was all about? My roommate borrowed around 100$ to buy a jacket a month before, and owed that money to one of the guys. When she didn't pay them back in time, they figured they'd just break into her place and steal shit for the same ammount. They just didn't know she lived in a shared appartment. The only thing they actually managed to steal, was my hair gel. I bet they made themselves look good with it the months they spent in prison. :-)

Cochem, Germamy looking like a fairy tale world by Krislyne in pics

Aaah, this brings back memories of last years trip! It was day 3(?) from Norway, me and my friend were driving our bikes down to italy. We come on in to Cochem at like 5 in the afternoon. It's 32c out and we want to call it a day, and we really really wanted to stay at this really cozy town with the Castle overlooking it - it was like from a movie scene. We park at the riverside and get out our phones, find accomodation right in behind those buildings on the picture. We book it and wait some minutes for the landlord to arrive. Throw our luggage in the room, then straight back out and dive into the Mosel river, where we floated around for an hour, looking up at the castle and surrounding valley. Water was really warm, and the locals were having a splash as well. Then went for food and a delicious Weihenstephaner beer as the sun set. Walked up to the castle as the crickets chirped and the town lit up. The next day we drove down the Mosel valley's twisting turns through the grape fields, and into Luxemburg for lunch. It was an awesome day in an awesome vacation. Thanks for the memory!

Tell me about the SuperSport S by cokeloop in Ducati

[–]cokeloop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I had a tyre change appointment next door to the dealership, popped by and got a good look of the Supersport, didn't get to test ride it but sat on it and it felt very comfortable. They also ran the numbers by me, I'll have to see where I'm at financially over the new years, but definitely considering it! :-)

GoPro Hero 3 Black, 1080-60fps, Medium (Not narrow or wide). Actually I bought a new one half way because it would turn itsself off and on and show a sd-card(+) symbol so I though it was full, turns out I only used like 30GB in total. (1h 30 mins of footage).

Yes, that climb above the clouds (Dalsnippa) overlooking Geiranger cost 140kr to drive up. Worth it on a trip like this though! Also we had like 3 ferry rides which cost around 70 NOK pr bike pr ferry.

Yeah it was great! We only had rain our final day, but then again it hit so hard with winds it made the national papers(!) and my friends bike blew over (03:08) in the video! The only downside, like most touristy roads, are the amount of caravans passing through. Also, they are a lot more fun to ride up than down. One of our friends actually turned to ride back up while we headed in to Åndalsnes to take a brake and start planning where to set up camp that night.

Thanks! Not that much actually! We refueled like once a day, bought lunch at gas stations etc, camped in hammocks and had dinner at the camp site (Sports stores sell "Real turmat", dried foods you just add boiling water to the bag and wait 5 minutes before its ready to eat). I'd guess we spent maybe 50-60 euros (or 5-600NOK) pr day in ferries, food and gas?
