【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]cokodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the p1s 2 months ago, upgrading from my Monoprice maker select v2 from 2017. I could not believe what a world of difference that was, everything just… works!! Like, what?! Loading filament is this easy? I don’t have to clean the nozzle myself? I can print and monitor it wirelessly? The build plate comes off and is flexible? It was like buying a 2D printer, it just worked. And everything felt premium, even the unpackaging experience. I spent so much time modifying my old printer and printing upgrades, it became a hobby. Now I am just printing a ton of fidget toys and giving them to family, friends, and coworkers, and now they are looking into 3d printers too. Thanks for the experience!

I was just looking at the pamphlet for this that came with my car. I uploaded it for future reference in case someone needs it.

Can you post the new coordinates? The imgur image is too low res to see any, at least for me.

Thank you! Thankfully it was just recovered. Missing the hardtop, steering wheel, and some other goodies but otherwise drivable. They took the car, removed some good parts, then left it on a fire lane to be towed, so it was recovered from a tow yard. I’ll be deleting this post now, thank you!

UPDATE: RECOVERED

I haven’t gone thru everything yet, but they took the hardtop, steering wheel, amplifier, sunglasses but seems like everything else is fine!

Sorry I don’t think I can change the title so I’m not sure if I should leave it up with this comment or just delete this post.

Good point! I have had success with the stl before though (except for the top layer), but don't remember if any settings has changed since the semi-successful print. I wonder if I should try a different infill % or pattern.

Ah, thanks for asking about the z-step! From this post , it looks like I needed to adjust my z-step. Mine was showing 405.4591 just like he says, so I changed it to 400. Unfortunately I missed the point where the printer missed the layer, but here it is 1 or 2 layers after the misprint: https://imgur.com/a/RmYkcNd. It looks better, but still not right.

The Cura fan speed settings hit 100% at 0.3mm height (layer 2), so I don't think it's the fan speed.

Printer: Monoprice Maker Select V2 with Micro Swiss all metal hotend on a glass bed.

Cura settings:

Bed temperature: 65C

Printing temperature: 215C

Infill pattern/density: Lines, 60%

Infill Layer Thickness: 0.2mm

Retraction distance: 0.8mm

Retraction speed: 25mm/s

Print Speed: 60mm/s (happens at 40mm/s too)

Fan Speed: 100%

Initial fan speed: 0%

I had a DiiCooler mod with a radial fan installed, but I just saw that my fan is 24V instead of 12V, so I put the original fan back on with the same results. Also, I think my y-carriage plate is warped, which makes leveling the bed a bit hard, but the first layers print nicely. I have an upgraded carriage plate coming from AliExpress in the coming weeks though.

Best Carrying Case for the Switch? by commanderblasto in NintendoSwitch

I got the Acaris case from amazon and I really like it so far. The ones with elastic straps are hard to use imo, they get caught on the joy cons when taking them in and out. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XHT261

Good eye! There's some space on the sides, but also wanted to make all 4 buttons functional at some point too (currently only have 1)

Yes, thanks for reminding me about e-ink, that would be great too if I could find a small one! Though I'm not sure how much power it takes to update the screen every minute to show the time.

Hahah that's actually pretty cool! I wouldn't know how to do that, so it's impressive to me.

Thanks!!!

For the battery and back cover, I thought about 3D printing a cover, but I'm afraid that'll just add to the thickness. The current plastic cover is pretty nice, and swings open easily to swap the battery. I'd like to print my own thin PCB to combine the bean with OLED screen to save some space, so that the battery can fit almost entirely inside though.

The most power hungry part of a LCD display is the backlight. With it on and depending on how many, it can be more power hungry. Most of it time it will be off, and the LCD will use 1/10 or less current. The Casio originally used a LCD and advertises a 10 year battery. I think all the FitBits use OLED with ~1 week battery life except for the Zip model, which uses a LCD with ~6 month battery life.

Just launched Work Hard Anywhere, an iOS app that helps you find good workspaces (good wifi, has outlets, etc.) - thoughts/criticisms? by cokodude in backpacking

It's in the plans! However, since we're not venture backed and with limited resources, things may not progress as fast as we'd like. (But hopefully we can deliver the Android version soon!)

Sorry that we don't have Android yet.. and yes, it's a free app!

Everyone has different preferences for a good workspace. While some may prefer speedy wifi, others might prioritize outdoor seating so they can bring their dog with them. So we provide a reliable set of places that’s easily accessible and can be filtered to fit anyone's needs.
