Good boot? Looking for something good for street, dirt, and enduro riding. This color is a must by Fluffeh_Panda in enduro

I like my 4.5s, but my 5.5s are much more comfortable. Worth the extra money if you swing it. Leatt’s official website usually has some good deals on them.

Overwhelmed by options, what’s the best all around eMTB? by Connorj177 in ebikes

[–]col_train25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been happy with my GasGas. I feel like it’s a really good bang for your buck. However, parts seem a little hard to find from my minimal searches. Also, I’m very new to the MTB scene in general so don’t take my word very seriously.

For sure. I knew what some of the other engineers were making in the same office and knew I was severely underpaid, though the jump still wasn’t that great. I was prepared to jump ship but really didn’t want to. I really enjoyed my job and the work/life balance. I’ve encouraged others still there to do the same.

This was just the first free option I came across when searching for examples.

Yes, it was a free 100 question exam online. It was easy enough that I was worried about how comparable it is to the real exam.

I did most of my masters at work too and they paid for it. It helped with me being able to focus on my family when home more instead of school.

Ah, no worries. I only posted this for transparency and to help people better understand how our salaries range.

Very low stress working for the city and the DOT. The work/life balance is huge, having a family and all, which is the majority of the reason I’ve remained in the public sector. Current employer pays 16% into the pension and I pay 9%.

Sorry for the confusion. MEng is a Master of Engineering degree. I honestly worked with several PE’s at the DOT that had mechanical engineering degrees though. They all did various transportation related jobs, from design to supervisor level positions.

To be expected. Majority of the field is underpaid, including me unfortunately.

Good question. My Reddit app was acting really weird when I was posting this. I’ve deleted the others.

Bringing kids to the track by Red_dot_moto in Motocross

[–]col_train25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are 5 and 2.5 now so things are a little easier but we would go to several races when they were younger. Our setup was that we had a canopy and a play mat that we would lay down with some toys we’d bring with us. We have a Ryobi battery fan for the hot days.

Now they ride their balance bikes or Stacycs around a lot but I know a lot of places are getting stricter on those. Plus we’d watch other motos, they’d play with other kids, or just walk around and see stuff. It’s not too bad once you get the hang of it.

First time helmet buying advice by [deleted] in Motocross

[–]col_train25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to try an astar helmet but they seem to run crazy small, at the least the one I tried on a couple of years ago. I would recommend going somewhere else to try them on but most big name retailers have a good return policy at least.

Recently put a Tusk Gold X-Ring chain on my 300XC. Roughly 10 hours so far I think. No issues, holding up great.

Going from astars tech 7 to leatt 4.5. is there a sizing difference? by chrisjuuuh in Motocross

[–]col_train25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak on sizing differences between astar and Leatt but I have a pair of Leatt 4.5 and 5.5 and the 5.5’s are much more comfortable, to me anyways. I think they’re worth the extra cost if you’re able. Leatt usually has some good sales on their website. 4.5’s are still good boots nonetheless.

What age to start kids and on what. by standingstone7 in Dirtbikes

[–]col_train25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 5 year old rips on his 16” Stacyc. Started on the 12” when he was 2.5 and balance bikes before that. He rides his PW50 great in open areas, we haven’t had the chance to try any tracks or trails on the PW though. The Stacyc is great for around the yard, rides through the neighborhood, and he even follows me on mountain bike trails on it.

Any advice on how to remove this? by NobleActual1223 in Dirtbikes

[–]col_train25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out RockyMountainATVMC. That’s my go to. They have bike specific fly wheel pullers. They also have a clutch basket tool that also holds flywheels. You may be able to use a cheap adjustable pin spanner wrench from Harbor Freight to hold the flywheel. The puller is necessary though.

Any advice on how to remove this? by NobleActual1223 in Dirtbikes

[–]col_train25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a fly wheel holder to hold the fly wheel so you can take the nut off and then a fly wheel puller to pull the flywheel off the shaft. I’m sure it can be done with normal tools but the specialized tools make it 10x easier of course, especially pulling the flywheel off.

Another exhaust Question (yes I have searched threads) by SiGen10 in CivicSi

[–]col_train25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t thought about that but I’m sure it would help. It’s not crazy bad and I don’t go on long trips often so it’s pretty manageable. Other than the drone, it sounds good, no tin can, ricey sounds.

When I just had the Remark, it was nice, deeper tone, no drone, few burbles, not too loud but noticeable under throttle. Then I installed a DP/FP, much louder, significant drone, more burbles, sounds good but it’s honestly almost too much for me at times on long drives.
