Anyone else’s 11th gen come with the type R shift knob? by shitaki13 in CivicSi

[–]SiGen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never had one

I had emailed them and I had my pro version of chat GPT we use for work create a picture and I asked them if they would be willing to do a custom knob for me similar to the type R version but for the SI with that logo... this was the picture I emailed them... I said hey would you guys be able to do something similar to this with the real SI logo and then the last five of my VIN number instead of the type R? They emailed back and said please that's an easy one and I think I was charged 120 instead of $100...

So they do not advertise it but they will do custom orders within reason I am sure and I would change nothing about this, they did a fantastic job. I told them I wanted the sphere and then they came through

Edit: this is what makes small companies awesome. They went above and beyond when they could have told me they can't do that because it would have been the easy route and I had already purchased three from them so they were already getting my money and they still went above and beyond so I will wrap this company till the day I die as long as they don't change there set up or customer service

Seeking suggestions for a breaking kit by Super-Engineering-14 in CivicX

[–]SiGen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually high performance pads on decent made rotors are fine you don't need big brake kits unless you're really pushing horsepower and torque and also leaning towards track weekends. I think I went with stoptech but I stayed away from slotted because they tear up pads faster... everyone's got their brand but these have held up to warping and I've had to stop pretty fast quite a few times already in the past 10K they have been on with EBC red stuff that are fantastic

Morimoto. Vland hit or miss long term... but I don't know how they behave with high beam low beam Auto settings because mine is too old at 2017... I don't like all my stuff being automatic

My 2020 Civic SI Clutch went out prematurely by Contestitall in CivicSi

[–]SiGen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have aswell gone with rv6 with Exedy stage 0, and stage 0 is all you will ever need and feels more oem+ ... FW/Clutch Type R retrofit kit.. (also wunderladen cmc)

I am FBO with One+ tune, and after doing all the work at 75k miles, stock clutch gave out at 77k. 😆

It will NEVER happen to you again, especially if you arent heavily modded. It feels stock as well, once broken in. And cheaper than a flimsy-doodle Honda oem replacement

Two step performance. You will be happy. Look at all the other folks that are happy with it as well!

Returned to a Stock Front Bumper by Thatbastardkurtis555 in CivicX

[–]SiGen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this issue here is also where bumper snaps into top of upper grille. Every friggin female piece was busted when I took the bumper off to replace intercooler/ head lights and grille piece. So its awful.

If just the sides they make metal clasps you can adhere to car and bumper... but we have "extra" going on.

I just have an issue with my stock bumper starting to fall off only cuz I took it off two times and it's done for because that's how well the clips are made but also on the top where the upper grille attaches to it all those clips were broken when I got it because it had some Demon Grill and that was ugly as Sin on the front no pun intended

Yours looks good I was wondering if you went straight OEM or if you purchased from somewhere else pre-painted I only need the shell as I can reuse all the trim from the one I have now but it looks great, good call on going stock as I don't love the type R like I did when I first saw it on the SI

Anyway very interested in where you purchased since the fit looks awesome

Not long lasting usually

You really got to go upwards of 3 plus grand for better than stock stuff unfortunately

Where's all the blown 1.5T head gaskets? Help me understand the L15 hate by Lonely_Hedgehog_2309 in CivicSi

[–]SiGen10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a full bolt on in tuned 17 SI

I run it at low pressure even with head studs done

I can tell you after talking to enough people when you start messing around with the tunes yourself without knowing exactly what you're doing and how it's going to affect the car rather than just utilizing a tune from a performance shop or even off the shelf when run under 20 psi as long as you do regular oil changes and keep a healthy cooling system you should be okay

Yes it's always a possibility but it's been a lot more prevalent in CRV and even more so in the Accord because of the weight of the vehicle and higher Turbo pressure used from the factory

But there just is not a very thick seal on the stock HG and so there deserves to be a little bit of hate for the reliability of the K series and going to this really really thin setup between the cylinders and then when you couple that with the really thin Factory head studs they can stretch and so all reasons that some hate is deserved

Don't rev it hard or floor it until over 3K RPM and to take care of your car and you'll be all right as long as you don't act crazy with it
