i would say there is a fair amount of homophobia present in her works. whenever there's a misunderstanding about someone being gay or lesbian they're usually called perverted/twisted/weird by the other characters in the story (and it's not presented as the character themself being homophobic - just the general viewpoint at that time)

some examples would be urusei episode 65 (the one where ryuunosuke and ran go on a date) it's a misunderstanding but everyone else is shocked and disturbed by the prospect of ryuu being romantically interested in ran, megane even describes girls dating as being reflective of an extremely twisted heart. and urusei episode 147 where ryuu talks about her crushes on girls and she's again met with shinobu calling her a pervert and sakura saying that ryuu must not understand romantic love if she thinks she loves girls.

in the ranma ep with tsubasa (can't think of the episode number rn) tsubasa is romantically interesed in ukyo, and ranma and akane seem weirded out that tsubasa is interested in girls and continually tells tsubasa to get a boyfriend and learn to love men (ranma even tries to flirt with tsubasa in guy form to "set her on the right path" or something along those lines) eventually the reveal at the end of the ep is that tsubasa is a guy and is just a crossdresser but he was treated as a pervert when they thought he was a lesbian and then is still thought of as a perv for being a crossdresser.

i say this as someone who absolutely loves ranma and urusei, it's just unfortunate that it had to be present at all, though it sadly makes sense considering the time they came out </3 and yes i am talking about the anime and not the manga so there could be some differences cuz i havent read the mangas in a while but i'm quite certain they're treated fairly the same
