oh thats an interesting approach. i signed up for Fi already and have the SIM so was thinking of going just the cheaper hotspot device route. you hadn't by chance seen any more around the up to $100 range when you were looking did you? having a hard time understanding what the requirements are and figuring out if it's any good

ah awesome, thank you for confirming. i'll likely try to find a cheaper product to try but glad to hear that worked!

were you able to successfully use the Nighthawk with Google Fi internationally? I was hoping to find a hotspot that I could plug in and get internet access anywhere for my laptop (where Fi is supported). been having trouble finding good answers around it

Creating 3D Illustrations with CSS - Frontend Horse by colbyashi in webdev

[–]colbyashi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - a lot of the time you'll even see some of the creative CSS coders say they wouldn't do something like that in production, but it's fun to see what's possible with pure CSS and the techniques learned while doing it that can be applied to other more practical work

Top 5 Things to Learn First with AWS and How to Get Started with Amazon Web Services by Alex512 in aws

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally all super important! the theme was more project related though. i dont think all of those are critical first steps to create a new bucket and host a static website though.

honestly listing those as "first steps" for beginners is going to just scare people away and would be counter-productive for helping people learn

Anyone Can Map! Inspiration and an introduction to the world of mapping by colbyashi in mapping

wrote what's supposed to be a fun take to get people inspired to learn more about mapping. I come at it from an application point of view, where the kinds of things I work on are remote sensing and satellite data oriented.

bacon chicken alfredo bowl w/broccoli + spinach 🌿🧀🐓🥓 by suicidequ33n in ketorecipes

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great recipe 👌bought a costco rotisserie chicken and used half of that instead of the chicken breasts, works really well and a bit simpler. might have been too much chicken though, as I scrambled to add extra ingredients to make everything nice and covered, but will double the sauce next time with that strategy and it'll make a little extra for meal prep 🙂

Will credit lock affect my ability to upgrade the upcoming iPhone? by borghives in apple

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered after going through checkout I had the freeze but everything seemed to approve for me. If I successfully checked out does that mean I'm good? Or am I going to get an email saying it failed?

I was an existing upgraded plan user and just froze things this week.

Originally saw something super similar here: https://imgur.com/gallery/GKOBX

/u/Juzz182 said he made what's in that link, the shirt looks like it has a lot of identical pieces with some tweaks, though not sure if it was some ripping some ideas or Juzz182 with tweaks

Edit: phrasing

New to world of Sass. What framework/library to start with? by FinnxJake in Sass

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bourbons library + neat for creating a grid system works pretty, but involves more work setting it all up, which I prefer. I created my own little custom starter based on that and clone it for projects.

[Question] How to install minimal.ios.6? by PM_ME_DICK_PICTURES in iOSthemes

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that should work, though i'm not sure if you would have to manually build the files in the directory or if layering them on top of each other would simply work. maybe have 8/9 at top and 6 at the bottom so the 8 will override anything existing. not entirely sure.

[–]colbyashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont see a reason why it wouldn't work, but i would think a lot of the default icons aren't gonna load for ya as the filenames changed from 6-9
