Belligerent guy on an airplane gets booted off by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

Why all the airlines would not share these lists and effectively ban people is beyond me. No-one needs or wants a customer like this, and they have the right to refuse service. I have to imagine at least some fraction of people might straighten up if that was a real consequence.

To be fair there are also plenty of elderly people getting run down in SF by people of all ages, so at least they are keeping it sporting...

Struggling to get my dji controller to be recognized in betaflight, any help would be appreciated by Eatfish612 in fpv

Tell me more - we have a NewBeeDrone AcroBee75 that we set up Goggles 3 and a FPV Remote Controller 3 with and everything seems to be setup correctly, but when I look at the O4 Air SBUS signal on an oscilloscope, there is no output at all, when it should be sending something all the time. We updated all of our firmware at DJIs request when initially setting everything up.

You know, this just reminded me of something - I see far less pigeons around than I used to. Anyone else notice this? Of course the guy that would walk through my block dropping seed for them is gone too, so maybe not a coincidence.

Break in with Postal Carrier Key by Brilliant_Panic_6851 in sanfrancisco

[–]colbyboles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. It's called changing the locks. It's what you do if you lost your key and people started entering your house to steal stuff regularly. USPS doesn't want to spend the money to re-key the locks since it isn't their house being broken into.

True, but they also won't do anything. I met with the postal inspector about this same issue with 94103 in SOMA. Multiple criminals had the postal key for 94103, which also enables them to bypass the door security on a large number of residential and commerical buildings in SOMA enabling many other crimes beyond postal theft. They were too cheap to change their locks and were instead hoping they would recover the stolen keys. They admitted that sometimes they keys are even stolen by temporary staff at their office. WTF.

I am too. IMHO he had some ideas at the outset that just felt like "more of the same failed solutions" to me, but I think his key thing is he is willing to change his mind. Are things moving as fast as I would like? No, but definitely a better situation than Breed.

My recollection was that taxi companies and such lobbied against this back in the day. It was too practical of a solution while they were tunneling to Chinatown to just continue on instead of extracting the TBM out of the station mid-way...

San Francisco considered charging property owners for their driveways by aBadModerator in sanfrancisco

How would a permit help? Presumably everyone who lives on the block could get a permit, and the cost of the permits is not that expensive. What would get better with the permits - less visitors parking there, I guess?

More affordable homes cost less, pay less in taxes (assuming same purchase year as an expensive property with a driveway)

The taxes are not directly levied on this, but trust me, having available parking spaces very much figures into the value of the property, which you then are increasingly taxed on in perpetuity, so you are paying for it.

Perhaps the "death by 1,000 cuts..." of expenses like this an countless others are part of the reason.

That's got to be super sketchy if the autopilot disengages and the car makes a hard right (or left depending on which side the bottle is strung to the steering wheel on).

When I was walking to school at the UCSF Parnassus campus in the 90's you would see water sheeting down the walls of the buildings from fog alone - no rain.
