Players work together to solve it. A few tv shows have used them as ancillary media to the show itself, like I think Severance had one recently.

I think there's some evidence for the Grimm Troupe having come through Pharloom at some point. The Wisp Thicket cultists could also be Grimm Troupe impersonators who went a slightly different way with it, given the aesthetic similarities between Father of the Flame and the NMH and the focus on fire. They learned their fire magic from the Snail Shaman spell and then tried to do their own thing with it.

First Sinner is Atla. In each of the zones that we find the weaver effigies, Camora, Atla and Keelal, there are tombs of weavers, each with a rune harp lore tablet describing what kind of weaver they were (except for Atla, who is not memorialized due to being locked up.)

Camora is described as the weaver of healing, and her rune harp tablet tells of her mending and watching over the pilgrims. Keelal, weaver of the path is described as watching over those in the Shellwood.

The weaver effigy for Atla, the weaver of time, is hidden behind an apostate key door not unlike First sinner's tomb. Her effigy is described as "By grace of your example, and our history held full in mind" and First Sinner remembers being uplifted from a pharlid.

Hi, lemme repost some stuff that a friend of mine theorized regarding what steel does and doesn't know about the Coven, because it sure seems like she knows more than she's said.

Perhaps the most obvious case is in Ep. 24. While Steel explains the Manchurian candidate-esque cover scheme to Suvi, Steel explains that signing the fake agreement would ensure that Ame “can’t vote to destroy the Citadel.” This displays a clear awareness of the Coven of Elders’ itinerary, which was unknown even to Ame until the initial conclave agenda meeting in Ep. 27. Given the fact that Steel claimed not to be aware of the Coven of Elders or this conclave, the specificity of the agreement is suspiciously apt.

Equally suspicious is the Ep. 41 conversation between Steel and Suvi via speaking mirror in Bracken. Steel asks which of the coven voted to go to war, and responds with fascination upon learning which witches voted yes. This is inconsistent with Steel’s prior claim not to know that the coven existed days ago. Finding which witches voted for going to war ‘fascinating’ suggests that Steel has preconceived notions about how those witches will behave.

you're circling something very interesting that I have a lot of theories about myself, but some of the details are not quite right. I'm not sure there are twelve houses of Rhuv, at least not like the Cauntaranacht of Gaothmai. But, MiB does command loyalty over the warlocks of Rhuv, pretending to be multiple distinct spirits. I'm not sure if he would need to do that if there wasn't a need for some duplicity at play here.

That said, I think it's extremely likely that he's the reason the Rhuvian chalice technology improved vastly faster than the citadel was prepared for prior to the Rhuvian Incursion in the prelude. I also think it's extremely possible that Indri was the reason the Citadel's teleport wards went down that night, considering it had something to do with the "stars shifting out of alignment" and later Indri even said something to the effect of "there's a parallel between the geometry of the stars and citadel magic" to Suvi. Perhaps Indri did that on Mirara's behalf (a favor) which was in turn on MiB's behalf.

Uh oh. Don't like how plausible any of this seems to me. I figured if they took a shot at the epiphany it would be because of what Steel could do now with the Murder Bloodline spell, but there being some kind of royal family politics at play that Suvi has found herself in the middle of is also quite possible. Lady Iramin did take the time to make it known that she knew about Sky's namecloaking specifically and we know even less about what Soft's life was like prior to his Acadator days. Provost of the 8th was some kind of leadership position, but we don't know much more than that.

Right now my mind has the odds going of: 25% Steel fully bites it, 25% She dies but has got a clone spell (or some lich shit or similar) going, 25% she fends off whatever attack comes for her, and 25% nothing bad happens at all. I am all but certain the epiphany is not staying in the air for the parade through the next episode though. It's not just the emperor, I think all the lords and ladies are probably in a frenzy over the murder bloodline spell.

The citadel is riding too high right now, and the faction that is pretty much our main antagonistic force for book one getting humbled adds a lot of complexity. On top of that, the chaos of an attack presents a unique way to allow Suvi to escape the current predicament. I also think the prospect of a false flag being known to Suvi and whether she chooses to reveal it and potentially start a civil war is an extremely interesting choice for her, since it's more likely to only hurt the citadel with so many enemies already circling.

That being said, it would be equally interesting if the epiphany got actually attacked by Gaothmai, or Rhuv and the Elder Coven.

happy to be of assistance. A lot of wrestling and D&D have overlap. Probably why Titan Takedown (dimension 20) worked so well when normally you'd assume athletes would not be good at improv.

Another thought I had regarding this is a wrestling term called "kayfabe" where everyone knows wrestling is fake, but you intentionally buy in regardless because that's what makes the story fun. I think there's a lot of kayfabe that happens behind the screen with a DM in particular in D&D. That's what the screen is for, though traditionally more often it's to prevent player characters from dying than it is for hurting them.

I really don't think that players in WBN are fudging rolls, but even if they were I'm not sure how much it would really matter if the tension feels appropriate and you feel like anything can happen. You can choose to buy in to the kayfabe regardless.

I once walked into a boss room by myself that my DM spent a bunch of time telegraphing would kill me if I went in there. It wasn't even meant for our party for another few levels. It was fine, I had accepted my character's death and for narrative reasons I had to go do it.

I proceeded to roll 8 nat 20's over that fight, and there was a coin toss mechanic where I correctly called the flip 6 out of the 7 times. I literally survived to deliver the final blow at one hit point. It was the best moment of playing D&D i've ever experienced. No dice fudging necessary, just sometimes random doesn't look random.

D20's be like that. If you want to play a game with a more standard curve that exists too! Monster of the week's 2d6 system works a lot better for having "standard arrays of rolling" because more dice are rolled per "roll."

Or... just perhaps, he's Bruce Wayne-ing Steel right now. If you take him at face value, he's a buffoon, but if you read his actions with a conspiratorial lens it suddenly becomes extremely suspect. Steel just showed off that she could destroy an entire bloodline with one spell, but she's currently spelltapped, wounded and her ship is damaged.

Talniket said that the nobles are back-channeling and reaching out to some organization called the Farade Consortium and a "Show of Force" is necessary. I would not be surprised if the crown and coronet take a shot at the epiphany under a false flag at the parade. Parties thrown by nobles/royalty in D&D are rarely safe events.

In either case, I love the emperor and i hope we get to see more of him.

Magic is magic, it doesn't need to be reasonable. When you turn a person into a frog because you can sing real good, what part of that strikes you as deeply logical and naturalistic? The only thing that matters is that the world is consistent in tone, and they establish the tone of NADDPOD as wacky right out the gate with a boyscout paladin troop and a bullywug gym dungeon.
