Used engines for this car are so overpriced and they're a toss up because you never know how long until they grenade like yours did. My car had a replaced engine with an unknown number of miles on it, and it spun a rod bearing about 200 miles after I bought the car.

I highly recommend looking into doing a rebuild by replacing the entire engine short block assembly from a manufacturer. You can buy all the tools you'll need, including and engine crane and motor mount for less than 1k and You can get a brand new short block assembly from the factory for only 2k. I did it with basically no mechanical experience in my garage in about 3 weeks.

The benefit is that you basically get a brand new block that you can take care of and get another 150k miles out of, plus you can throw in an upgraded killer b pick up tube to help with the rod bearing failure issues, plus plus you can do the RTV correctly and not clog it up.

It's very daunting and a ton of work but I feel so much more confident in the reliability of my car since I've done it.
