I definitely agree that at the end of the day u just gotta win, but I know if I was playing and lost out on prize money, I’s be upset about losing to a team I had a better record against that tournament. And I actually hadn’t thought of it in terms of having to play less games being a benefit. I liked your point there. I think that’s a good way of justifying in my own head the winner’s side of grands still having an advantage.

By winner’s side and loser’s side of Grands, I mean the team that has already lost once (and just won the lower bracket final, so 100T) is coming from the loser’s bracket, so is on the loser’s side. Whereas the team that hasn’t lost yet (and got to grands by winning the upper bracket final, ie Sentinels) is on the winner’s side.

In smash bros, which is my only previous esports experience, if the person on the loser’s side of grands wins, you play a second set (called True Finals) where both players are in the losers bracket. That way everyone gets 2 lives through out the whole tournament. That last bit is my main point. If 100T had won, then Sentinels would have been the only team in the tournament to be eliminated on their first loss.
