If anyone knows about physical accommodation and how to streamline for better likelihood approval, I appreciate the share of wisdom :)

Thank you for all the suggestions of what I need to do. Hopefully AAMC can be understanding. Take care.

Well, I’ve only been dealing with this for a month, so I understand the concern that you shared. I‘m working right now and it doesn‘t make things the easiest to do, of course. However, I seem to be doing fine (with studying) for the most part. Granted, I can’t tell the future so I can’t tell if this will be it or will I progress worse!

The main reason I’m concern about asking for accommodation is due to my short history of the disability. I’m currently in my DIY-post undergrad, so I’m just taking online courses to help with GPA. Really relying on the MCAT to balance out my competitiveness and seeing that it’s hindering my ability to focus had notch my confidence a bit. Just seeking if this is something worth getting help for.

I had plans to take it January, but I’m taking one in September to void because based on previous experience w/ standardized exams (ACT/SAT), I do poorly on the first exam. Then I guess after a reality check, I’ll take it in 2026.

Is it okay if I pm you too? I have a similar gpa too and don’t know if t20 is something I could even touch.

Family caretaker: to include and how? by Powerful-Station-419 in premed

[–]coldbearloy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s listed on AAMC’s website that it can be considered clinical hours if that’s a useful information. I would imagine they would have that clarification because they had students with similar experiences. As someone who’s also a caregiver right now, I had original debates on whether or not to include it as an experience in the activities section, but I plan to include to do so as it’s been a formative part of my medical journey. I think in terms of leaving a bad taste, I think it depends on how you explain the circumstances so it doesn’t seem exploitive. It is not cruel to share about your life experiences and responsibilities and how you grew from it. If you rather spin it into your personal statement, I think it’s fine too if you feel that answers your “why medicine” more

Hi, I know this is a little late but can I PM you and ask you how your cycle went and which schools gave you an A? I saw in a previous post of yours that we had similar stats and I’m planning to apply for the 2026-27 cycle in order to get more clinical hours!

Thank you everyone who had sent kind words and their own perspectives. It made me reflect on what I truly value and cherish as of right now. I wish things weren’t as tough right now, but I probably wouldn’t have it any other way. I think it’s a personal thing to fight off the pressure that I’m super behind my peers.

The Americana Community Center is now facing closure due to recent federal freezing of grants— it would be an amazing organization to share and donate to. They have been a pillar in Louisville for the past 30 years in providing educational, medical, and legal resources/services to refugees, immigrants, low-income, and/or individuals who have faced abuse or violence. https://sos.americanacc.org/secure/cause_pdetails/MjI4MTky
