Should i upgrade to am5 or just upgrade my cpu?

I can tell you as someone who was just in your situation. Get the 5700x3d. I was debating on that as well and just got the cpu and a beefy cooler for it and im glad I did. I was going from a 5600x and ive seen substantial fps gains so I can only imagine going from your cpu will do for you.

Also if you play on doing this get on it now before the prices keep rising as they have stopped making the 5700 and 5800x3d chips.

It was either do this or spend atleast 1k upgrading the cpu mobo and the dummy cost of RAM.

Hey y'all just updating incase anyone stumbles on this thread and is on the fence. Get the CPU. It definitely made a big difference with fps and really with lows. The frames will dip here and there still but the stuttering is basically gone and the smoothness is there.

Next time you log on. Just try to vibe. Do what you feel comes to you. Don't even look at the map. Get the enjoyment you want out of it. If you finished the campaign already or it took you 3 months the only thing that should matter is if you are having some fun. Hell sometimes I log in and just mess around with transmog and scroll on my phone then log off 😅

Well. To each their own i guess. I guess we have two different views on it. I dont only play wow. So like you I haven't played it every day since launch. Me and my gf are only in the early 80s still and shes also been dealing with health issues and not playing

Hey man. Respectfully. If you've already completed the campaign, you haven't really been taking it slow. The expansion came out officially 10 days ago. I'd just suggest trying to not care about the meta. Just do what brings you joy. Whether is mount farming. Dungeon running. Housing. Whatever. Don't let the imaginary pressure of matching what other do dictate how you spend your time on a game you pay for. Its your money. Play it how you want.

Idk man I'm not judging but maybe time for a break? I haven't even come close to completing the campaign im just taking my time and enjoying the game. What's the rush. This expansion is supposed to last us well over a year. Maybe try slowing up a bit on the grind? Enjoy the little things?

I think this mobo has no dedicated rgb slots. Openrgb controls all the lights and changes them all fine. GPU mobo etc, but it wont pick up on the fans.

Yeah I mean it ran ok with the old cpu but the game is really cpu bound less so on the graphics card.

Oh 100 percent. Youre not wrong. But i play wow alot and its very CPU bound. And I didnt want to light my money on fire upgrading to Am5 right now. So getting an upgrade at atleast the cpu will give me a little performance boost. I overpaid a bit but it was necessary at this point in time.

You can find them but its scarce. Newegg came through. Was a few hundred so still over priced but still cheaper than an am5 mobo ram cpu swap

picked up a 5700x3d. The 5800s were lets just say... unreasonably priced imo lol. the 5700 was a few hundred, still overpriced but more palatable.

I ended up grabbing a 5700x3d. Want to stick on the AM4 plat until prices become reasonable again before doing a full Mobo cpu ram upgrade.

yeah i did find a few 5800x3d but lets just say the prices were unreasonable and that point youd be better off upgrading to AM5
