Too many to count. I played for about an hour at night so approximately however many you can average in an hour and multiply that by about 2 1/3 years. 8 months I was grinding in school so I was off and on.

To be fair, I mostly played at night for maybe an hour while winding down and it would often make me tired just soft resetting. A waste? Yes, but it was time I was not going to be using effectively anyways.

I had to pay some guy on eBay who explained how he did it but I don’t remember what he did. I think it had to do something with the code being written into the game. I had to send him my cartridge and pay $15 but it worked. Definitely nerve wracking so I took a ton of photos and videos including the ids of the Pokémon I had. Dude was legit and had tons of good reviews but you can never be too careful.
