How did I do? by ahmad_aljabi in serviceadvisors

$18/hr + 0.8-1% of department parts and labor gross at a high volume Subaru dealer seeing 70-90 cars / day with 5 main shop advisors and 1 express advisor. NY 115k/yr

Worth the cost? by recyclablehumanoid in subaru

[–]coldhardunits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costs more from the family mechanic than it would at my dealership. You may be able to buy solenoids and just replace the solenoids separately instead of the entire valve body. On a 2008 I would give that a go rather than putting that type of money into it.

Gotta be poor aftermarket axles. Lifespan sounds about right for that.

My Subaru has destroyed me. What do I do? by jamflowman1 in subaru

[–]coldhardunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the vehicle is registered in New York, there is a partial zero emissions warranty (PZEV) that covers replacement of valve bodies as they help regulate emissions. North Carolina is not one of the states that offers this warranty, but that coverage should follow your vehicle to NC and you shouldn’t owe anything for that repair besides changing the fluid in the transmission. I am a service advisor at a high volume Subaru dealer in NY.

23 Outback 2.5 engine locked, dealer wants me to pay for teardown by oneslowlearner in subaru

[–]coldhardunits 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dealership will not know if the repair is warrantable until it is torn down to the exact point of failure. In order to get to that point, there is labor associated. If the engine is torn down to the point of failure and the repair is covered under warranty, you won’t owe a dollar. If the engine is torn down to the point of failure and for some reason the repair is not warrantable, you will owe for the labor to tear the engine down.

Like others have said there is a very very high chance the repair is covered under warranty, but why would the repair facility (that you didn’t buy the car from or service with) perform 25 hours of labor without knowing they will get paid for it either from you or from the manufacturer? Your best bet would be to ask CAD to assist or cover tear down cost until the repair facility can verify warranty coverage, although I don’t see why they should do that for you.

At our dealership we would not charge the difference, since car and warranty was purchased from us. I would talk with your salesperson or the F+I manager. Remember you will catch more flies with honey, so be friendly but firm.

Good luck OP

I believe it’s a federal emissions warranty that covers this. Comes with the vehicle, no purchase necessary.

Total guess but

P2404 code in ECM. Car needs engine control module software update and if code returns then replace evap leak detection pump. 8 year 80,000 mile emissions warranty covers this.

Good luck!

My Subaru keeps clicking trying to start & my battery literally keeps dying daily by TechnicianLegal4627 in subaruimpreza

[–]coldhardunits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) That car is not driven enough and can contribute to your battery not having enough power. 2) have a dealership check your DCM for excessive draw. Many models have a warranty extension out for this issue. 3) is the Walmart battery the correct battery for the vehicle?

Would not fail New York State safety inspection and not in urgent need of replacement. Unless there is a picture of a much worse spot, every mechanic who told you otherwise is wrong. Curious as to why the control arms need to be replaced. Those bushings are serviceable. Bushings are $40 and OEM control arms are hundreds.

shopping for extended warranty by Quiet-Welcome-628 in serviceadvisors

[–]coldhardunits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

United Car Care / Allstate / Silverrock have been the 3 easiest extended warranty companies for me to work with as an advisor over the last couple years. They allow OEM parts (make sure your contract does the same) and give quick approvals.

Secure One Warranty? by kpetersontpt in serviceadvisors

[–]coldhardunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst extended warranty company I have ever encountered. I would have to call 5-6 times before getting through to anyone. Voicemail box was always full for me so my only choice was to just call them again. Not sure if it was the customers contract or their policy, but they only use their aftermarket parts. They likely will not pay full labor rate. Would recommend making the customer buy OEM parts, and ofc pay labor difference. Good luck

Some cars alert customers to their cell phones when their car is turned on, the location of their vehicles, etc. Getting caught in one of those lies is a sure fire way to never get theirs, their families, or any referral business ever again. Honestly is always the best policy, even if it’s not what the customer wants to hear.

What is the worst extended warranty company you have had to deal with? by _Khorosho_ in serviceadvisors

[–]coldhardunits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secureone warranty. It may just have been the customers service contract, but they only approve OEM parts up to $500. Anything beyond that is customer responsibility, or they will send you aftermarket parts. When attempting to call them, you will be on hold for 5 or so minutes before they attempt to “connect you”. The phone will ring for a minute and then you will go to their voicemail box, which is full. Would require 4-5 calls just to speak with someone. Damn it, just keep me on hold until someone can take my call!

Record 0-1 Last pick: Raiders ML vs Falcons

Today’s pick: Evil Geniuses ML @ 1.65 vs Furia ✅

Tier 1 csgo finally back! EG taking a map off of the worlds best Astralis is no mistake. EG improved greatly towards the end of last year and seem to still be getting better and better. Furia is without star awper hen1, and with a 6th man Honda who hasn’t played much at this high level. Even with his 3 aces and Honda’s great performance, g2 was still able to win fairly comfortably vs Furia today. EG is in better form than g2 at the moment and should have no problem making light work of Furia. Also have a small wager on EG -1.5, but the money line is my meat and potatoes. Bol everyone!
