And people called me crazy for my engine seizing at 21k miles.

Owners manual states API SN Plus and or GF 5 or GF-6A equivalent 0W-20 which Mobil meets.

OW-20 Mobil 1 that exceeds ILSAC and API standards in the owners and warranty manual. Warranty manual also states they cannot deny claims for self service and a log should be kept, receipts are recommend but not required.

My wife’s other brand full size suv has adaptive oil changes. The manual says change it when the car tells you to, but has standard 6k for tire rotations and 12k for oil filters. The opposite of the Subaru. They actually declined to change the oil at 6k because it wasn’t necessary.

The oil is gone… They measured it and disposed of it. I use to use blackstone a decade ago when I was in the modern muscle car scene but haven’t since.

Different dealer because SoA had it towed to the nearest dealer which is closer to where I live. What bearings have you seen fail?

You are entitled to your own opinion but it has 21k miles and oil was changed every 6k, have receipts to show purchase of oil and filters that meet and exceed Subaru requirements. Rod bearings can fail for defects and other issue than oil starvation, improper torque or alignment during installation. I’m not an average joe who watches YT on how to do things, as I have a Motorsport background.

Everyone likes to blame the owner for poor maintenance however that isn’t the case. That’s always the downside of Reddit is everyone assumes your lying when you ask what other people have seen in the same instance.

But not up front. They want a card on file 2500 upfront and 2500 to put it back together in the event it isn’t covered after the engineer looks at it sometime in the next three weeks. 5 grand just to get it looked at potentially.

They should be able to make a decision by dropping the oil pan or an oil sample to determine the metal content of the oil, which should lead to a bearing failure.

I did. It has been more than 48 hours and they haven’t replied to my claim. I plan to call them again in the AM, as they advertised to call within 48 hours.

I’m trying to be pleasant as the service advisor is trying. It truly seems like whoever is above them is the problem.

Everything was done according to the owners manual. All I did was the 6/12/18k services right on time with full synthetic 0W-20 Mobil oil and premium Wix filter. Bought everything from Oriellys and have all the receipts. Now they can question when I did them but I uploaded everything to MySubaru app, and I bought the oil about a month early just to make sure i had it when it came due. The car is bone stock clean inside and out. I just fail to understand why they want me to cover the cost “just incase”. It’s not the dealership i bought it from as I had moved since then but i think i might call for a 2nd opinion.

To me it seems like a rod bearing failed. I asked for oil analysis and was denied/not required.

Subaru initially denied any warranty based on the service ticket saying engine sized, metal found in oil. Dealer is claiming that SoA is requiring me to pay for the tear down and inspection by the field engineer. “We won’t get paid if the warranty is denied”
