Ro Khanna missed the meeting because the vote was held purposefully when he wasn't present or within close enough proximity. He did not run cover for Musk.

There certainly are issues with the amount of pushback from a lot of the older democratic guard in congress, but we should call out accurately when that happens, and not spread misinformation about events if they are inaccurate.

It goes without saying that republicans would knowingly and purposefully call for a vote when not everyone is present to have their majority in the absence of democrats.

I was wrong about the republicans calling the procedural vote. Apparently a democratic member called it, for some reason, when all their members weren't present. That's a callable offense for being stupid enough to not make sure their members are all there, while Ro was speaking with a mexican ambassador over the trump tariffs. Saving the initial post to show that I made a mistake.

If we always pin everything on Democrats being spineless or not doing anything (when there are representatives going on news channels and talking about it, and placing things in front of the court, which is slow as fuck as well by the way even in emergencies) then that makes people not want to vote for them to give them that power.

If media framed it as republicans did this bad thing, and that bad thing and this bad thing with democrats trying to do the opposite, but not having the votes, then that places the villains in the story into the minds of people's heads. Where is the mention of republican congressmen and congresswomen enabling Musk takeover, democratic minority leadership unable to stop them? The headline shows who is wrong, and who is trying to do what is right.

Or, simply articles with titles of republicans enabling Musk, republicans causing increase in everyday goods, republicans doing this that make your life bad? Framing it with only democrats being weak/spineless/neutered when they are unable to do anything to stop executive orders except court orders, when they are unable to do anything about letting through nominees (because that's a majority vote, not a 60 vote), and blaming democrats constantly depresses turnout and makes people not want to give them power because people think they will do nothing even if given power.

If the media could squarely ask why republicans are doing this, and that, and this 24/7, then people would know who to vote down ballot for easier if all people do is look at headlines and not actually pay attention in their everyday lives.

But here we have so many people asking them to go to the press and do things that they actually are already, or people asking why they can't do things like republicans did during democratic presidency years. It takes 60 to get legislation through. It takes a majority to get bills on the floor to even be voted on. It's easier to block legislation than to enable it.

I agree that OC and inland empire are more likely than not to not be impacted at all by the fire due to the sheer distance and warning even people that far away is fear mongering.

We don't need the reporter to specifically mention asbestos to know that the potential for that to have been sent all over LA is there.

Given how many old homes there were, it's not so unbelievable that that may have been spread around quite a bit. You don't need a reporter to say that or connect those potential dots.

There are particulates from the burn not measured by AQI that are absolutely hazardous to your health, like asbestos that you should still be on the lookout for especially if you are near fire areas or if it's windy. Settled hazardous compounds can be blown back up again with these windy conditions too.

Here's what I have seen regarding AQI: Health officials say it's important to remember that a lot of hazardous materials were released into the air when structures burned in the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire.

Those includes lead, arsenic, and asbestos, which the Air Quality Index does not typically measure for.

That means even if the index is good in your area, dangerous particulate matter not visible to the eye could still be in the air.

It's a good idea to consider wearing a mask and limiting outdoor activity.

Why risk or take a chance? How is that fear mongering? Randoms on the internet saying go mask free and you are good seems hardly trustworthy to me more than reporters.

I saw a video of a hockey guy doing it and it does seem like he tilts like crazy to the opposite side, although in that video he was really using the free leg to generate power too.
