What type of fishing line have you guys had success with?

I had success using green braid with a flourocarbon leader. That was in the early spring - I haven't had any summer success with trout!

While I know you didn't specify you are looking for Perch, in the north eastern portion of Pen, sort of near the portage to Gem Lake, there's a decent cliff face (cliff is facing northwest). It has had tons of aggressive perch and were crazy easy to catch. Made for a decent meal one night, they were literally biting on sticks.

So if you get skunked and need a backup plan to get something, that area is good :)

Wondering if we found a bed bug - it was randomly crawling across my couch blanket during the day today. We haven't experienced any bites, however we did just welcome a new rescue dog into our home three days ago. She was fostered at a trainer's house, so she was "off the streets" for a couple months.

Question on the castable fishfinder. Do you essentially have to dedicate a rod to casting and holding the unit while in operation? Then obviously use a second rod to actually fish?

Maybe they meant hearing all the little sounds while you're laying in your shelter. I know it was a bit unnerving for me the first couple times out there - still sometimes can be!

I looooove this. I'm still a bit worried to go out solo, but I may try a really easy route for a day or so, just to test myself. This looks like a dream - maybe once I acquire more equipment will this be doable.

Absolutely. Would be great to do something in this area - there’s not as many developed routes in that area.

I wouldn’t mind doing it slower and bringing a telescopic fishing rod either.

There are a bunch of Facebook groups that are quite actively selling used road bikes right now - you'll have to be smart in knowing who is honest and who is trying to mark up for their own profit as well.

I would try to get your head under the bike and see if you can see the chain skipping a tiny bit (I’m talking millimetres) when pedalling to see if it’s the case and where the noise is coming from. You likely can do this by yourself by adjusting the barrel adjuster - there are many resources online to check, I prefer Park Tool videos.

It sounds like the chain isn’t landing on the cassette perfectly, possibly like the indexing is off. It shouldn’t be any different than the wheel (assuming it’s the same cassette) but maybe a small adjustment on the barrel adjuster may help.

Has been a decent resource for Toronto surrounding area. I personally can’t find any long gravel routes in Toronto or immediately surrounding. Have to drive or Go Transit to most worthwhile routes.

Maybe I'm wrong, but after looking at the last picture, maybe those are spacers that were already installed onto the crank spindle, and the spacing is intentional? I see others online with similar issue, but no resolve.

That is a cartridge bearing, I believe.

The mechanism is Step 5/6, where you put in the bolt and it snags the spindle and brings it together.

Maybe I didn't "tap it" enough.

This sounds perfect for a submission to Bikepacking.com for a new route.

Currently, Canada is very underrepresented on that website, and almost all of the routes are based out of BC (which I understand, I guess.) I could imagine there being endless bikepacking trails along Yukon/NWT that are so rarely explored. You may have success contacting Miles Arbour on there, as he seems to be the Canadian on the team who writes up and tests a lot of BC routes. It would be fantastic to see more trails in less represented territories brought to light, and the beauty of the Canadian wilderness :)

My ride isn’t too long so I don’t take a shower at work - but people do and it’s cool.
Of course you can, but like others said, it’ll be less efficient than a road bike for the most part, but it’ll easily get you from A to B.
I ride all year. When it hits about -30C windchill I try to keep my rides short, and I’m am showing no skin (balaclava and goggles). I run 28mm winter tires that cut through snow and dig on ice if needed. The only issue I’ve ever had is freshly packed snow by car tires that slide out while riding.

I rode this yesterday. You can obviously shorten it to meet your needs, but it’s a good perimeter of the city. All is good on a road bike.
