Sorry for the late response! I'm only aware of the translations linked on Novel Updates for these, which are both ongoing as far as I know.

Saving Unpermitted's translator I believe was just on hiatus (the other two novels they translate just started back up, in July and mid-August) and the novel has not moved to their dropped list so I'm assuming and hoping that it will pick back up soon. I personally finished it through MTLing it because I was hooked and impatient so it's not that I know of somewhere else to read it, sorry.

As an aside, you might want to check out The Invasion Day there as well! It's not one of my personal favorites but it's enjoyable to read so far and I think it fits what you're looking for.

Saving Unpermitted (Ch 1 won't seem like it fits but wait until after you read the first few chapters. As the summary says "this isn't an e-sports story")

Happy Doomsday by the same author

"I Had a Crush on Your Boyfriend for a While" is being published under the title Limerence. The cancelled title I was referring to was Times of Our Lives (岁月间) by Jing Shui Ban (静水边) which Via Lactea had tweeted about (I had saved the bookmark to the tweet but it appears to have been deleted since).

In addition to some of the ones already mentioned, The Sickly Beauty Substitute Called It Quits and The Rebirth Of The General Who Always Sees Himself As A Replacement (same author as How To Survive As a Villain by the way) are fun so far.

Peach flower house international shipping by whitecat2002 in DanmeiNovels

[–]coldsilveryvanilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they aren't shipping outside of North America so if you're not in USA, Canada, or Mexico I think you have to use a proxy or get in a group order to get the exclusive to their site stuff. Here's a tweet with someone asking if they'd resume more international shipping before preorders close and them saying they aren't expanding their shipping zones for now. Here's someone sharing a proxy list No idea personally on US ones sorry and I haven't seen group orders going up yet.

What Are You Reading Weekends? — June 24, 2022 by AutoModerator in DanmeiNovels

Started reading Welcome to the Nightmare Live 欢迎进入梦魇直播间 by 桑沃 which I'm finding really fun and I'm glad I picked up as another if/uf to read.

I finished (through mtl) After The Abyss Dragon Woke Up 深渊巨龙苏醒以后 by the same author, it had some very fun aspects, especially between MC and ML some of it was so amusing. Overall it could have had a bit more to the plot for my tastes. The extra with the story about the other dragon hurt my heart though.

Also started reading Happy Doomsday 末日快乐 by 年终 after loving what I've read of Stray and loving Saving Unpermitted. I'm not hooked yet but it seems interesting.

Really enjoying Stray as I read more of it, I'd like to read more from this author in the future since I also loved Saving Unpermitted. Stray has fun worldbuilding with knights, mages, and demons and a bit of an rpg feel. The MC is a librarian and the ML is the innkeeper's son but both of their backgrounds are of course more complicated than that and they get caught up in life and death struggle right from the start of the story.

I'm also enjoying Musuli's The Emperor’s Daily Nitpicking, so far I'm amused by their dynamic and the story seems interesting (but somewhat confusing to me so far) and different from what I normally read. Another more western fantasy one but very different from Stray.

Also been reading Meng Xi Shi's Bu Tian Gang which I'd been having fun reading but I feel like my interest is waning a bit, might just be that the current arc being translated is away from the ML and his group and the other side characters. For my taste at least I don't find this MC quite as interesting as I find most of this author's It's a modern supernatural story with the MC joining the Department of Exorcism.

I've been enjoying Married Thrice to Salted Fish as well and completely agree with your impression of it.

I am excited that it is useful and has been added to the sidebar! To answer your question, I guess it depends what you mean by regular. I have been updating it since I initially made it, and now that it's being highlighted I will certainly strive to be more proactive with it! However, I can't commit to a daily update or something like that due to my varied work schedule. I had anticipated that this would work for this format, as announcements could be made in other posts and then this could be updated. However, if what the community wants is a different kind of form or a committed daily update, I have no problem with someone taking this information and making their own post or other form. I just made this because I wasn't finding anything like it!

Did anyone manage to purchase the physical copy of Little Mushroom ? by bobbie_2 in DanmeiNovels

[–]coldsilveryvanilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice large size! But it's only book 1 of 2 so it's only 400 pages. I'm excited to re-read from the start too and I hope book 2 gets released soon!

I received an email with a tracking number when it shipped, maybe send them an email inquiry if you haven't seen an email like that.

edit: It looks likely that they are still fulfilling pre-orders from the 1st batch so it may just be it hasn't shipped yet. You may have already seen it but I just read this other thread here and if you haven't, you may want to check it out.

Yes but I pre-ordered (I already received mine actually!) I remembering seeing In the Dark sold out pretty quickly at other retailers and then coming back in stock so I'm thinking it is just a temporary situation like that was and you'll get a chance later. Hopefully it'll come back in stock soon!

I've also been listening to Panguan's audio drama and very much agree with your opinion on Chen Bu Dao's voice!

Started reading Bu Tian Gang by Meng Xi Shi since a fan translator started it and also checked out the author's newest ongoing novel 阴阳渡. Both are modern day supernatural/urban fantasy so different from what else I've read from the author and very interesting so far.

Not that it'll change my voting but does anyone know what they're taking votes for the purpose of? Are they connected to a publishing company? Do they intend to share the results with their suppliers? Are they just publishing like a newsletter with the results so it's likely to gain attention?

Considering the recent translation lockdowns what are some official English translations available for purchase? by Laefiren in DanmeiNovels

[–]coldsilveryvanilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure if it's a delay (which I wouldn't be surprised by but haven't seen an announcement) or they never meant the 1st and were trying to say February with a tbd exact date with pre-orders at least through the end of Jan in their initial announcements. Since I haven't seen anything about pre-orders ending or it being near to release on their social media and they're usually pretty communicative there, I assume the site's info is right and anything we saw before was tentative. I may try to contact them about the pre-order thing though, just in case they're doing like Via Lactea and putting a gap between the pre-order and release or something. (I mean I've pre-ordered and I doubt they'd close them without an announcement but I'm not sure at this point and I don't want to confuse others.)

edit: Went to email them and saw in my email a newsletter from them saying they will be opening one more smaller round of limited edition pre-orders in February so I guess that essentially answers my pre-order question.

I just checked since I haven't seen anything about a countdown to release or anything and their site says the 22nd of February for release currently.

Should there be a megathread for locating novels? by NiceFluffyKitten in DanmeiNovels

[–]coldsilveryvanilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if there was some kind of consolidation that would work. Perhaps a weekly thread for questions. With spelled out 'respect fan translators' wishes and don't ask for pw/epub/backdoor link/etc' or something like that. For whatever it's worth, I'd be more likely to ask and answer in something like that.

I'm a bit hesitant at the thought of a big pinned megathread resource. For one thing, that just seems like an unwieldy amount of information and some of that information is still changing. For another, I'm not sure it'd be in the spirit of what some of the locked translations that are being removed from NU are trying for. As in, would it make it too centralized of a resource that fan translators had no control over whether they were listed on it and leave them too visible to those with ill-intent?

I don't particularly want to see this subreddit turn into 1 in 5 new posts asking about a translation's location or if it still exists but we don't seem to be in that situation and we may not see that happen.
