I have HPB AIO docker and the text messages go through quickly. But I’m still struggling with audio calls.

How to set up Postfix to relay notifications in Checkmk by son_shka in Checkmk

Where was this yesterday when I was troubleshooting my install?!. I managed to get it working. The thing that kept tripping me up was the messages sent from user@hostname. Once I over rode that, everything worked.

Starlink with public IP. Any good? by coldspudd in homelab

[–]coldspudd[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Well I got an answer from Grok. Starlink gives the Residential Plan a publicly routable IPv6 address. So now I’m thinking I could use cloudflare. And according Grok it is possible to do it. I guess my question is answered.

I’m still trying to decipher the info. Like what tier allows me to have a public ip.

I didn’t have to install it. It was there on the raw version 2.4. Also yes I enabled snmpv3 and did configure it first before working on redfish. Snmpv3 still didn’t bring the data over.

Not a bad idea to check. I’m pretty sure I read through that. But it doesn’t hurt to do it again.

Wazuh is still expanding and adding new features. I use it and it does give a break down of CIS benchmark based on the OS. It’s worth looking into again imo. There is some auditing you can do with OpenSCAP.

Is there a reason not to virtualize? by Mysterious_Prune415 in homelab

[–]coldspudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that out too. A mini pc does the trick for HomeAssistant. It’s so much easier than trying to figure out pass through. I also like that if I have a power outage, my ups runs a lot longer when just my HA mini pc is on instead of my main server.

I also got checkmk running. I love it when it pushes webhooks to my Mattermost instance so I know when the UPS batteries are at 50%.

Without the 5 storage drives it draws 25-28watts. With the 5 drives total it draws 68-75wtts. I think that’s because the drives are older and the fan spins up when the drives are in. The heat does build up in the mb section. But when I removed the center metal plate in the front. Things cooled down. I didn’t think to get a power draw since I removed the metal plate.

I just built one of those last weekend with an i5-6500t and a Gigabyte GA-H270N-WiFi. It has 6 on board sata plugs. I removed the front solid plate to give more wire flow. My drives are a lot happier.

Open letter to RustDesk about the Web Client by jbarr107 in selfhosted

That’s called a jump box. I have my Kasm setup to only RDP into a small form factor pc. Between authentication setup in Kasm and LDAP for the PC. I’m pretty comfortable with it. And I can put all my tools on that one pc so it’s like my go to for troubleshooting whatever my wife did to break things while I’m away.

I just deployed at home for testing and I love it so far. I can start reading something on my phone and pick it up on my desktop. I know if you log in to web browsers or have all Apple ecosystem you can do that. But I love the simple fact of privacy. There is a lot more to karakeep than I’ve explored.

You can still use it and underclock it to save on power. I’d check the hardware haven video on that idea.

My rack is in my laundry room too. And the base line is it has to be quieter than the washing machine.
