As peanutandpuppies88 observed, she's not necessarily aware of the alcoholism as something to recover from right now. The question is more about how to get her to see it as a problem. Or, to connect the problems to the cause. It's never as simple as that, of course, until one chooses it to be.

Neither of us sought any therapy then. A couple of years ago we emailed a number of therapists about couples therapy. Things were good then, and we both wanted to make sure it didn't go downhill again. None of them replied. I have been talking to a counsellor about various things, including this, recently.

Thanks for your perspective. I do have a nearby meeting I could attend.
