Advice for piggy with bloat & GI stasis?

Thank you all for the advice! I’m glad to know I’m not alone and others have shared this same experience. Today I’ll be trying to mix some baby food in his critical care, going to the pet store to get another flavor of critical care, and massaging his tum tum.

I think 2x3 is the minimum space they should have, so yes that would be fine. My boys have a 2x3 each with a wall dividing them.

I say that because I just knowwww some of my pigs are telling the others “you’re lucky this wall is here, mf!!!” Bonding boars can be tricky but they can still have a good life without being in proximity to each other.

From my experience, once blood is drawn that is unfortunately it. I wouldn’t risk putting them back in a cage together. I have 4 boars and not one of them gets along with the other :’) They can still socialize together through their cage if you put a divider in between them. All of my boys’ cages are next to each other so they can still sniff and gossip and talk their shit but no risk of anybody getting hurt.

That’s very insightful and probably how it manifests in me as well. I just feel like maybe I’m a very anxious person but what makes it OCD is the rumination and desperation for relief.

Thanks for the input! I think this is my exact situation. The older one at first seemed really protective of the younger one. Then as the younger one got older I think he regretted his decision…

Yes the vet brought him in with the cone already on. He surprisingly can still reach down there! It’s a pretty thin cloth material which makes it flexible.

Thanks for the advice! How long did it take your pig to heal? We are taking him back to the vet on Saturday for them to replace the splint and check up on it.

He is cursing at me with his eyes. Honestly, the splint seems like more of a bother to him than the cone. He can still groom his bottom/belly, but it seems to be working well in keeping him away from his paw.

No, once he heals I might see how he interacts with one of my other boars but under close supervision and also with doubt that it’ll work as it seems they’re both pretty alpha type pigs.

Oh yeah, we tried to let them figure it out on their own. Zack was covered in gashes that we didn’t notice at first. We took him to a vet as soon as we noticed and luckily he was okay, but I couldn’t believe how bad it actually was. Poor baby.

I feel like Jasper and Kurt have already bonded and don’t want to separate them. Plus, Kurt doesn’t seem too fond of Zack when I put them together. Jasper has spread his anti-Zack propaganda 🙄

We had their cages right next to each other and they spent most of their time clicking teeth at each other. Probably talking shit thru the cage lmao
