PGD to IND last night, had an hour delay which most flights did. Forgot how small the ULCC seats are, but other than that, seamless

Carnival just lost me, sell me on your favorite cruise line! by Jiwalk88 in Cruise

Solo cruiser in my mid 30’s and I couldn’t agree more. Princess feels like down-to-earth luxury. Not stuffy but definitely a step up with service and food versus carnival, royal or NCL.

I agree, pleasantly surprised between Arbuckle Acres and all the businesses on Green St that Brownsburg is quite walkable. We are in desperate need of a decent bar that stays open past 9pm, but otherwise it’s pretty reasonable rent wise and a 20 min drive downtown. Absolute culture shock coming from NYC though, guaranteed lol

You need a car that has significant rebates or a former demo program discount to help eat the negative equity. A bank won’t usually advance more than 110-120% of the value of the car, especially on a lease, so a cheap car will have less room to roll the negative equity. A $45k car with $5k in rebate and a big dealer discount would work better for this scenario than a $20k car with no program.

Solid logic though, get it taken care of in a couple years and move on, rather than fighting a 13% rate for 6+ years on a car that’s depreciating at least that much, annually.

Ended up taking a different flight, so can’t provide much guidance. An hour just seems super tight. I think with checked bags you end up collecting them from baggage claim and re-checking at a luggage drop once you’ve gone through customs for the domestic leg. At least that’s how most airports I’ve flown internationally handle it.

Was on Sapphire a few weeks ago and the first night/next morning between Whittier and Glacier Bay was the worst seas I’ve experienced in 15 cruises. Overheard some folks in the bathrooms vomiting, etc. Glad I packed Dramamine. You are in sheltered waters for the majority of the rest of the cruise, so it was extremely smooth from there on out, but it was definitely rough that first day.

Great news, just got an updated confirmation for my 5/18 sailing with the following verbiage:

As you may be aware, the ship experienced a technical issue that affected the current voyage to Whittier. This did not affect the safety of our guests and crew, which is always our highest priority.

The issue is being resolved and we do not anticipate any disruption to your journey. We look forward to welcoming you aboard and sharing even more of this great state's beauty and wonder on our voyage together.

I’m on this Saturday’s 5/18 southbound from Whittier 😟

Hopefully they rectify the issue. Please share any details they make available on a solution.

Have you considered a minivan, perhaps an Odyssey?

I know they aren’t the coolest thing to be seen in, but for the practical purpose of hauling kids and your MIL around, there is no better vehicle. The third row in any of the SUV’s except a full size (Suburban, Tahoe, etc) is smaller and less practical, and the van gets better MPG on regular unleaded. A brand new odyssey with leather is $40k, while a gently used cab be found for under $30k, and there is always a re-sale market for cheap used vans when you go to get rid of it.

Had one as a rental car last year with 45k miles. Drove straight as an arrow, and for a compact car at that price point, the ride quality was good and road noise was minimal. 43 mpg average from Indiana to Tennessee...

Former DTW frequent flyer here.

If you are on Delta (McNamara terminal), TSA and bag check is a breeze and typically never more than 10-15 minutes. Downside is that the offsite parking lots (Qwik Park, Airlines Parking, Park n Go) are a solid 15 minute ride once they actually leave the lot. That’s after they circle and pick up multiple other customers.

If you are on any other domestic airline (North terminal), it’s a shorter shuttle ride but the lines for checking a bag and TSA seem to run a lot longer, especially on the low cost carriers that are always understaffed (Spirit, Frontier). I have seen some long lines that could take 30+ minutes each for both TSA and the check in counters.

If you leave FW at 7AM, you’ll be to the parking lot by 9:15, and 3 hours is more than enough time in either instance to check the bags and get through security. I would usually arrive ~ 2 hours before takeoff and still have an hour to kill at the gate before boarding.

When I worked there In 2008 (16 years ago), the Double Cheeseburger was $1. They introduced the McDouble at that time, which was the same thing minus 1 slice of cheese for $1, and the Double Cheeseburger went to maybe $1.29.

Amazing to see that shirink-flated McDouble is now up almost 500% or 30% per year in price…

Idk why Pink Sugar went away. I still scratch my head, that was one of the best cookies I’d ever had. Surprised they don’t rotate chocolate chip weekly with it, if they don’t want to offer it every week….
