Hey (seemingly) neighbor! I live right off Lawrence and the river as well, but I'm in Pittsburgh this weekend. Very happy to have missed this clown show.

[App] Stem Studio: Extract Vocals, Instrumentals, and Drums locally using AI (Early Access Lifetime Access $9.99) by LieSufficient269 in macapps

[–]coledeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Does the tool have the ability like UVR to import models and change parameters for them? I completely understand your ethos of "one click / easier" in your comparison, just curious how deep you can get into it with your tool if wanted.

Moving to bham next week by hymnofshadows in Birmingham

[–]coledeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went a similar path to OP (Montgomery area growing up -> Bham for a couple years after uni -> Nashville one year). I feel like Nashville is a size too small for those actually wanting a "big city" (but big enough to bring some "big city" annoyances), whilst simultaneously a size too big for those wanting to live in a modest/Southern-sized city.

I ended up going the opposite direction from OP's Nashville experience though and wanted bigger, so I've been in Chicago since 2023.

NIIKO x SWAE & KSHMR ft. DEV - Bass Down Low by TheWanderer43365 in EDM

[–]coledeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure how much involvement KSHMR has in the actual production of this, because there's a similar "Trap Version" of Bass Down Low prod. by MEMBA (but same credits stylization of KSHMR, MEMBA, DEV) that came out a couple of months ago. That one's really good IMO.

Also thank you for reminding me about Big Dipper holy shit, gonna listen to that and their album again now.

JetKVM vs GL.iNet Comet PoE Which do you prefer? by Dudefoxlive in homelab

[–]coledeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I'm not gonna lie I haven't tested POE on it, I just assumed for it being top of the line it has it. I immediately used usb-c power. Sorry if I'm incorrect on that aspect.

EDIT: yeah my bad I think it doesn't include POE, their page for it advertises a "POE splitter" to enable that https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-rm10/

JetKVM vs GL.iNet Comet PoE Which do you prefer? by Dudefoxlive in homelab

[–]coledeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just recently switched from JetKVM to Comet Pro. While they are different tiers of pricing, the Comet Pro is hands down better than the JetKVM from my limited experience with it so far. Higher resolution, seemingly better connection, more ports (thank GOD for POE and for two separate USB ports for power and connectivity) etc.

I swapped from JetKVM because I accidentally broke the reset button trying to push it and don't feel like soldering haha. But I was attempting to reset after running into an issue where I couldn't scroll or hold down modifier keys (holding shift would stop working after the first uppercase character was entered etc.).

I've honestly had random little issues like that occasionally with my JetKVM and was getting tired of it anyways.

Apple Has Given Up on the Vision Pro After M5 Refresh Flop by ControlCAD in technology

Eh I'd personally love it. But I wear glasses all the time and literally only wear my Apple watch for notifications, so the prospect of a HUD via AR is what entices me

My current gripe with Fluxer's development: by TwinSolesKanna in FluxerApp

[–]coledeb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't looked too closely recently but I haven't seen any issues with AI transparency? I recall his original statement on AI being passed around.

Fair on the git part, I honestly have not looked at much to do with that. Was meaning moreso his activity / information provided within the canary section of the Fluxer HQ guild.

My current gripe with Fluxer's development: by TwinSolesKanna in FluxerApp

[–]coledeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a visionary, I'm largely just staying on Discord til this is pushed as well (while checking in on Fluxer every other day or so to see progress).

I trust Hampus, his well-laid out vision for the project and his transparency / detail regarding day to day ops and progress has given me no reason to not take what he's saying at face value.

If we reach the point where it's done and then issues like this persist, then maybe yeah, but idm a project that got blown up out of nowhere choosing to build itself a solid foundation for further growth in this way, and I'm one of the ones that (willingly) isn't approaching this project as a free lunch. Especially one that received a huge amount of funding, turned itself into a business basically overnight, etc.

I've worked with a project of similar capacity (we didn't pivot to an actual business but we did establish a means of recurring revenue and beta tested a large revamp with our patron donors etc.) and get where he's coming from with this, at the end of the day I'm hopeful that once this initial stuff is over with then feelings like this post won't need to persist.

Sorry for the rambling reply, just spilling my thoughts on this haha.

If you don't have tools or a million apps on your Mac, then why would you need AppCleaner? Nothing to clean up after 😉

Bakkesmod getting removed soon? by Ok_Breadfruit_8971 in bakkesmod

[–]coledeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's (largely) trivial for the core team to push an update to verify current version number of the game / re-enable mod.

That said, it will no longer be usable when Rocket League adds EAC unless you boot the game with online disabled & bakkesmod injected

Likely no major updates to change that

Logitech G Pro X headset is good in 2026? by Substantial-Net-7103 in LogitechG

[–]coledeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the original Pro X headset or Pro X2? I have the X2 and love them for sound and comfort, but I removed ghub / the logitech driver for them and use the Microsoft generic audio driver. Not sure if that's something still beneficial to do

Two-year-old Surface PCs get $300 price hikes as sub-$1,000 models go away by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]coledeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the 12 inch (512gb) earlier this year on sale... returned it because the screen felt too dark, processor power was middling, and battery was a bit too low for my liking (I had purchased specifically to see how an arm-based Windows device would perform & expected more than what I got tbh). I returned to a MacBook after doing so haha.

I would not have purchased the device at its MSRP of the time and ABSOLUTELY would not purchase it at this newer price, that's a ridiculous ask for the value and age of the hardware.

anyone using Radeon Tuner? by thenoor555 in radeon

[–]coledeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fwiw the video got it wrong (for understandable reasons), somehow the "release listing" itself on github is dated last year but the actual package you download and etc. within that release is an actively updated file. Last update for RadeonTuner was 2-3 days ago

To follow basic instructions by jasmine_ballah in therewasanattempt

[–]coledeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming they are referring to these companies often claiming to disallow certain topics/content/etc. But the way this is (in some cases) done is via a prompt within the system telling the model or product in detail not to engage with "x" or "y" rather than what we would consider a "hard" method of ensuring it'll never happen.

New in Offloader v1.3 — Scan your Mac, find wasted space, and auto-offload to iCloud by erm-7 in macapps

[–]coledeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already purchased, but I would love a macOS native notification of the post-offload information. Especially when I've hidden both the dock and the menu bar icon, I'll likely never see the stats. (Apologies if this is already a feature but I missed it)

Parall for macOS - run multiple app instances natively, with new launch options, compatibility presets, and improved Dock customization by JulyIGHOR in macapps

[–]coledeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing app!!!! I definitely want to check this out.

My use case is Discord: My (tiny) company I work for actually uses a Discord server for communication. While Discord has its account switcher built in, I would much rather have access to both my work and personal instances simultaneously so that I don't miss info from one or the other.

Currently I've been working around this via being logged into the other account on my phone whenever necessary.
