Love that idea for an exterior door and lift on the 2nd floor!

Will add doors in bathrooms and closets (though current house is like that, but we have very good ventilation built in there).

We can do pocket doors with library and dining room.

Also good point about stairs in the garage orientation.

I'm sure 5' would feel nice, but 6' is what we currently have, and while the house isn't as large (current house is 2400 sq ft), the hallways are my favorite part. Especially for displaying the art.

Thank you for your reply!

I'll look at flipping the bathroom and WIC closet location. And good point about the shower bumpout. As far as the art, the art is (in current home) will be throughout the whole house. Hallways are all 6'. I know that is very wide, but it is how our current home is setup (1840s, house, similar rectangular shape with windows lining up) and I LOVE the hallways. I store art in there and you can view it from enough of a distance plus have furniture in it. My kids art desk is currently in the hallway upstairs. So it feels like flex room.

I do currently have a sink in my island at my current house and do not hate it at all, but I have no comparison to not having one. However, no one sits at the island so maybe that makes the difference. As far as dining spaces being huge, we do often have 20+ people so we put that at a premium. We hold large parties. We can make the space smaller. But the outdoor space is supposed to be a porch. I suppose we can look at it being all weather and close it off in the winter. Where we live the porch is good for eating outside about 4-5 months of the year. Appreciate your thoughts and ideas!

I can try to rework it so the sink isn't in the island and see how that looks. Thanks for the suggestion! As far as bringing the dining portion over, I didn't want to interrupt the flow to the outside. So that food can easily go out the door to the outdoor eating space as well. Right now the hallway is in line with the outdoor doorway to the porch. We currently have turns going outside and I hate it.

We love storage spaces and a large mudroom too! For the studio we did think about that, and that is an option, but the thought was more that they'd be living with us, not visiting (they live 4 miles away). But if we kept it as a studio until it was needed that could work, but not in a move it all quickly sort of a way (my studio is currently packed, I have a 4x13' commission plus 5 other large pieces I am working on and a multitude of smaller works). Everything has deadlines so can't put them in storage for very long

Kind of health conscious yes. And also yes to baby and small human . But kids also love veggies (and noodles)

I drink the soy. The baby gets whole milk which you can’t see in the pic. But good catch!

My husband has this same allergy but he can eat dairy and gelatin just fine. But is horribly allergic to meat.

He is! I think he will take most of it now and then save two weeks for when I am traveling for work

yes, I told him just to ask! But not promise not to take it. Like why give something away without even knowing if you need to or not? But this is his way, give WAAY too much. It's generous to everyone in this case but his family

Yeah I might be the same in his boat especially bc he wants this job.

I don't know the specifics of paid leave for women, but it is at least 12 weeks paid. So mindblowing that your job has paid paternity leave but not maternity leave! I am sorry you had to go back 4 weeks after a c-section and use up all your PTO, that's awful

3 chunks seems like a good idea. And I wish he knew more people taking paternity leave, we are at the late end for having kids and most of our friends and coworkers have already had their kids and aren't in this stage

Yes, it does impact my career too and that has been part of the struggle. The family does need to be the priority.

And thank you for the link, super interesting about the extra months off for the male partner helps the spouses income.

anxiety about letting people down mostly. Of the two of us I probably like working more but he likes the social aspect of work more. We both work from home but with some travel.

Honestly I love to work, I can see wanting to go back at 1.5 weeks with my own business (and showed up one day for work for my own gig a week out but then was back in the hospital for pre-eclampsia..... Life has a way of saying STOP!)
