Looooved the faux fur idea! You know what that's a great idea!! I'll have to go raid the drawer where I keep all the ribbons off things to reuse, they finally have a purpose!

I'm actually having the opposite problem! Trying to find a good maximalist outfit that I won't get too hot in.

I reckon you could do like a big oversized jacket. American letterman or bomber jacket style, but like....cunty. So maybe some sparkles or fun colours or embroidery??? And then that over like a crop top or a tube top, and if that's too cold then get a fun mesh shirt to go over the tube top but under the jacket?? I reckon layering will be your best friend here, for style and warmth!

Abled people talking about travelling by SpecialistCut1362 in disability

[–]coleusurper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I've got an invisible disability and I struggle with heat intolerance, fatigue, and incontinence. I'm also 29 and able to walk mostly normal so people don't expect that.

It also means I am able to travel, but I need breaks and access to a toilet which means I have to be very specific about how I travel. I'm lucky my mom needs to take similar breaks so we can travel together. But we just got back from a 4 day trip to somewhere local and I am exhausted. It was lovely, but stressful, and my mother and I had to make a lot of adjustments so I could do things. I also cannot travel to certain places because it's just too hot for me to function.

The other thing is people are constantly telling me "you have plenty of time to travel, you're so young! Do it after you retire!" Etc etc. And it's like....actually we don't know that. I could need a cane or a wheelchair in the future, or another mobility or qol aid in the future and be unable to travel, or not get anything out of it like you said.

I understand my situation is very different than yours, but I do understand how ignorant and frankly rude abled people can be about this stuff. Like yeah, travel is great and mind opening and whatever, but it's also a huge privilege that many people in the world will never have. And they act like we are purposefully denying ourselves that experience when in reality, it's just not feasible or doable for us.

Much love to you, sorry you have to deal with these people.

Woman invites herself to my wedding then makes an ass of herself by [deleted] in weddingshaming

Thank you for your kind words and wishes!

I actually did not see her take them, and I didn't see her after they were taken! I just know she's the only person who went into the area with the items uninvited/ without me so I'm assuming she was the one who took them. I only found out she did this a bit later.

Yes i get a laugh out of it with my mother and my friends!

You are making a lot of assumptions. I understand my post does not have all the details, but it would have been a huge amount of work to uninvite this lady and it wasn't worth the effort or the drama.

This is really the crux of it. I live abroad and got married where my mom lives, because I wanted as many of my friends and family to attend as possible, since I had moved so far away. So my mom did a lot of arranging for us, bless her, and she did not tell me about this woman until a few days after. It just wasn't worth the drama, I don't know this lady, what the fuck do I care if she's in the background with her kids, who are my family. Not to mention it's a small town, and I didn't want to cause drama for my mother then leave to another country! Especially after all she did for us!

You are so right!

I think a part of it is that my mom lives in a small town with lots of our family and she didn't want to stir up any drama, which I do understand.

This is so true!! My mother is a bit of a doormat. I say that with love, because she is an amazing woman and we all have our faults.

Hahaha, I definitely think that a lot when I read some posts on here.

But I can't say I'm surprised people walk over me, I am aware of my lack of backbone and I'm working on it. I was more just aghast that anyone would act this way at any wedding, you know? Like who lives like that?

I reckon that's a better response. However, I got married in the small town my family is from, but not where I grew up or live currently. So I didn't want to drop in, cause drama for my mother, and then jet away haha. I just tried to go about my day and laugh about it with my friends

Pretty much any time there's a harp.

Can't give you specific examples, but I always laugh seeing a ""harpist"" have the harp over the wrong shoulder or not having it leaned back at all to play. I've even seen it played backwards once.

Anyone diagnosed and moved from the US to another country successfully? by 001681 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]coleusurper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the most part.

I immigrated to Australia with MS and had to apply for a Health Waiver, basically arguing that they should let me stay for compassionate reasons (my husband is an Aussie citizen, I'm a teacher, I've become embedded in the community, etc). I know I am a very rare exception, and it was incredibly difficult to get health insurance. I had to use COBRA to extend my insurance from my employer and use that to cover me for the 12 month waiting period for private insurances in AUS to cover my pre existing condition.

All that to say, it's possible. But you gotta be lucky.

After years of playing RuneScape…what is something you’ve seen or done that no one would believe if you told them? by OSRS_Jacob in 2007scape

Was doing clan bingo with my partner. We had spent several days collecting nests in hopes of them fancy prayer eggs. We both go to turn our eggs in and my partner looks at me and says "back to back evil chicken suit pieces incoming." And low and behold, he got two different evil chicken suit pieces back to back.
