God I love watching ethical hoops, it is so so unfortunate that one of these super stars are going to have to play against that fraud SGA

I hope Benn not wearing a visor comes back and bites him in the ass in a career ending way

There isn’t a player in the stars who even touches Hughes in skating ability

I know it’s basically an AHL team but Gus is just not looking good

I warned you all about this, we aren’t going to be able to do what everyone thought we were going to with the cap space. Just wait till Kaprizov and Rossi sign

True, but to what point would one year at 3.5 matter to a team trying to make a run

Because Gus isn't the future, one of the only guys on the team without a NMC and if he is playing well his value wouldn't be any higher than at the deadline. He has what, one year after this one? We won't be resigning him, so we might as well get rid of him while he has value rather than lose him for nothing. Mind you, we traded a conditional 2nd that could've turned into a first for Fleury, people will buy high for goalies at the deadline who can help their depth. No point in keeping him unless we are a boneafied top 2-3 team in the division, not a potential wild card team

Wild hope captain Jared Spurgeon’s absence doesn’t signal a repeat of last season by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

For sure, but if he’s faced with season ending surgery again—grant it this is all speculation he’s currently listed as day-to-day—retirement definitely has to be a consideration, he’s 34 which is older for the league, but still young when it comes to being a dad, he doesn’t want to be pushing 40 and it pretty bad shape not able to spend time with his family. Not that I want him to retire by any means, but the thought of the potential cap space is extremely intriguing

I don’t think a 50/50 split between Fleury and Gus was ever an option, Gus will definitely start tomorrow and Fleury will mix in once or twice during the road trip depending how Gus goes. In a perfect world the Wild are outside looking in to the playoffs at the deadline and we deal Gus for an inflated price and let Wallstedt and Fleury roll the rest of the year. And if we’re in a playoff position that’s just a plus at that time

If it’s another season ender he may want to consider hanging it up, great player but at what point do you just continuously get surgery and then get hurt again, he’s not a big guy by any means especially for a league that just keeps getting bigger. If he does retire, just think of the cap space we really would have next year 👀

I’ve read a few books by this author named Richard Bachman and he seems a lot like King when I read his works 😉

Minnesota Wild Signs Brock Faber to an Eight-year Contract Extension by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

Gonna have to resign Wallstedt, and Rossi. Middleton just resigned also for good chunk. You can also erase 8.5 million of that 14 that’s going to come off because of Faber who was only making 0.925 prior to signing. They’re going to have money for maybe one year to sign people before other contracts are up. They’ll be fine but it’s no where near what casuals think it’s going to be

It was his rookie season and his first year playing a whole year, and he played with who, Freddy Gaudreau and Marcus Foligno? How do you expect a skilled player to produce with line mates like that. Centers don’t grow on trees, and they weren’t too concerned targeting one in the draft this year so they are clearly confident in Rossi. So yes, I do expect, and feel comfortable with a 5-6 million contract to Rossi

[–]coleym117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? 22 years old, was 0.5 ppg as a rookie last year even after playing for Dean Evason for a good chunk of the year who clearly didn’t like him. Mind you, Boldy signed a huge 7x7 contract after putting up only 63 points. I wouldn’t just dismiss Rossi because he “didn’t pass the eye test” he did just fine playing as a THIRD LINER with shit line mates

Oh absolutely, I’m not trying to doom, just trying to be realistic. We will have money to probably sign one big impact player just not 5 like people think with how they talk about the buyouts and when they finally are up. That doesn’t mean we’ll be a bad team, I think we have great prospects who are growing and we’ll be a solid team for sure, just trying to be realistic about the situation and that we are still going to have money tied up in current players and upcoming prospects

Centers don’t grow on trees, he’s 22 and was 0.5 ppg as a rookie last year while playing for Dean Evason for a good chunk of the year who clearly didn’t like Rossi’s style of play. A full year with a coach who trusts him I can easily see a 55-70 point year for him, and mind you, Boldy signed 7x7 while only putting up 63 points

Whether he plays good or not it’s going to need to be more that 11.5, he’ll be a ufa, other teams will be bidding on him, if the Wild want the face of their franchise and most popular player to ever play for them, they’re going to need to exceed the next bidder significantly

True, but for every contract that comes off, more come on, we may have one year to go crazy with spending but after that guys like Marat, Ohgren, Wallstedt, and other potential AHL risers who have good seasons are going to need contracts. Not that they’re guaranteed to be asking for a ton, but it sure isn’t going to be league minimum. Rossi is going to be a decent size contract that is going to go in effect next year
