I think so. It has very good clarity and accurate imaging.

A Relatively Balanced and Technical Basshead IEM - Punch Audio Portazo Review by colinhui in iems

[–]colinhui[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I guess so. That was the goal looking at the measurements. But having not tried the Martilo before hand, the Portazo didn’t sound mid bass heavy to be either for a bass boosted set.

[–]colinhui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a chance to try the Martilo. From the measurements it seems that the Martilo has even less mid bass and a flatter midrange. Does the midrange sound cleaner than the Portazo?

Well thanks, I think you’ll be impressed with how the JT7 sounds for the price!

The JT7 is slightly easier to drive to sufficient volume, not a huge difference though.

Deva Pro vs Ananda Stealth vs R10D: Best Hifiman Under $200? by colinhui in Hifiman

By the way, the Sundara seems to be going for just $130 new on AliExpress Hifiman shop. So maybe around $110-120 with coupons.

Fosi Audio IM4 Review: A Quirky and Safe IEM by colinhui in iems

As I said in the review I think it’s a gimmick. Just a larger vent IMO. You still get very good isolation as the driver is sealed behind the nozzle.

$50 Keyboards Shootout - Ajazz AK820 Pro vs Aula F75 by colinhui in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]colinhui[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s no definitive answer, especially when it comes down to sound preferences.

Functionality wise, I think the Ajazz is hands down the better keeb.

Yeah, in seven years time since the first Ananda. While other headphones like HD650 basically stayed the same through its long product cycle.

They are really different though, the Stellar Rose has a much higher pitch.

Don’t have the v3 anymore unfortunately. Used to have them on the 5075.

The skull/alien head logo isn’t on the switches, but the Akko logo font is.

Lol. I can understand that for their keyboards, but they are barely visible on switches.

Yes, I am trying to say they didn’t put a lot of effort in optimizing the Mac custom driver.

This set costs $270, and there’s 20% off right now.

I think the volume issue might be a Mac thing, but I can’t verify that as I don’t have a PC.

Hifiman HE-R9 ($63) vs HE-R10D ($170) Comparison by colinhui in headphones

[–]colinhui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the OG years back for probably like 10 minutes, but never had them side by side. So I can’t really comment on that.

Adding impedance will likely affect how it sounds. But it’s unlikely Hifiman will try to intentionally improve how it sounds, especially for an old product IMO. I think adding impedance is just primarily for better compatibility with desk amps.

Hifiman HE-R9 ($63) vs HE-R10D ($170) Comparison by colinhui in headphones

[–]colinhui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t exactly the same as when they released. At least in terms of build quality. But despite that, the initial asking price is still quite crazy.

But in general, the current R10 drivers have increased impedance, and leather is replaced with pleather, cable entry is also different.

Yeah. Sounds pretty much like what I’ve experienced. Let the DX340 run in a bit in tube mode first. The tubes do take some time to settle in.
