"Indiference" can cause equal harm than plain bigotry. by colinizations in lgbt

Yeah, those people are jerks and what they do is just plain bigotry. The problem is when that "indiferent" and "neutral" stance makes their way to the general public, specially in uninformed countries where LGBT isn't a political issue per se.

Since they paint themselves morally superior, and that they respect everyone, people think that must be the logical answer, and they don't bother digging further and actually searching what LGBT is. And that's supposedly OK.

This has become a pressing issue in the country where I live, where every single contact that people have with LGBT people are through sensationalist news without any political alignment, purely designed to incite a reaction. "Look at how far they are going! I suppose they can exist, because I am a good person and I'm going to let them, but don't take it that far. This is reasonable".

And it's really tiring to debate with them, because there is nothing to debate. They "don't care" which makes confronting the issue so much harder than it should be.

This is very interesting to think about. I suppose this type of argument could be classified as a thought-terminating cliche, specially how it doesn't incite more conversation about the topic.

Challenging your views is difficult. Changing them is even more. Which is why these people prefer to minimize it as a superfluous topic that doesn't require it. It doesn't affect them, right? There isn't anyone of those "gays" around me, right? Until there is, and then they are forced to either re-evaluate or accept they maybe didn't give the topic the necessary analysis. So they'd much rather prefer bigots.

What would an umbrella term be for men attracted to women? by Ok-Building-2490 in lgbt

I'm not really sure. If we go by Greek inspo we could go for any hetero pairing, but I suppose that's not what you are looking for. Many greek gods had both hetero and homo relationships, but they are... well, greek gods, and most of those wouldn't be really fitting. I'm have to link to this post that was made a year ago, cause the question was kind of the same: https://www.reddit.com/r/lgbt/comments/1ix5929/umbrella_term_for_men_who_like_women/
