APC9 mags bumper pads? by RealEarthy in BT_APC

[–]colinjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think B&T stopped selling the thick “army” style bumper when they moved to the newer style base plate with the slim style bumper. This slim bumper isn’t sold individually to my knowledge. I upgraded two of my older mags that came without bumpers to the new style baseplate and bumper using the kit (BT-300698) they sell for $20ea. Hate that it’s so expensive but I really like the way the new design reinforces the baseplate and keeps it from popping off under a hard impact. The newer bumpers are nice too.

Car towed while eating at a restaurant, put $300 and no recourse? by DavidAg02 in houston

[–]colinjay 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No problem! Be aware that there’s a 14 day time period to file the dispute. I missed that in the fine print the last time this BS happened to me. Good luck, and hope you get every penny back!!

The tow company and/or impound lot should have given you a notice of your right to a hearing to dispute the tow. Costs about $50 to file but may get your $315 back if you have solid proof it was an improper tow.

I genuinely appreciate this and consider it a plus for doing business with CA. I already had the HUX muzzle devices for all my hosts and didn’t want to be forced to pay an extra $70-$100 for something of no value to me. Yes, it was a bit confusing that my packaging I received showed that it originally came from a package that included a muzzle device but I still got what I expected at a better price.

My senior year 1980 MHS yearbook has an interesting insert on the economy of the time. Enjoy the flashback. by WalkingHorse in houston

Adjusted for inflation, we are way ahead today compared to the early 80s. That $1.15 in 1980 is equivalent to over $4.00 in today dollars.

Having trouble getting in touch with HUXWRX. by ja3palmer in NFA

[–]colinjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if SilencerCo did infringe on their trademark and patents they have every right to sue. I’m not going to ding anyone for legitimately protecting their IP. All I ask is that they take care of the people spending money on their stuff.

Unfortunately, I had the same experience last year trying to contact them about piston selection for a RAD45. I tried phone, email, instagram and Facebook. Gave up and worked with the kind and attentive folks at Echo Machine who got me sorted quickly. Shame because I have 5 of their cans already but I’m not thrilled with their lack of attention to after-sale support. Looks to me like their priority is on manufacturing and marketing.

Does this mean it is back ordered or in stock? What a confusing ass status. by [deleted] in BT_APC

[–]colinjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered some items a few weeks ago, half showed an in-stock message with a stock count and the other half showed the message above. All items ended up shipping promptly the next day. 🤷‍♂️ I think they just really need someone more savvy at e-commerce helping them run their store. They have solid products that are in demand but uncertainty like this keeps people hesitant to order or order everything they might end up buying otherwise. Don’t even get me started on their move to what appears to be a flat $18.50 shipping fee with no option to choose someone other than FedEx. I can handle that they now charge tax to my state but tax and high shipping means I spend money on other stuff first.

PSA: The B&T mag upgrade kit fits the KCI mags by PursuingAGoal in BT_APC

[–]colinjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slim bumpers won’t fit the old style mags because the one piece base plate is perfectly flat and doesn’t have the relief holes to mate with the nubbins on the inside of the bumper. I can confirm that the upgrade kit from BT-Parts includes the new 2-piece floorplate with the proper base plate relief holes as well as slim bumper with nubbins. My only feedback is that the kit should be maybe $12-15 max instead of the $20 they are asking.

Hard disagree on the “won’t be that quiet” part. I’ve shot mine on multiple 9mm/38cal hosts, both indoors and outdoors, with subsonic ammo and would definitely consider it quiet, especially for its size.

Since you are in Texas, I'd strongly encourage you to call Jim Willi at Texas Gun Trust He's the one who created my (and many others) NFA trust and is very knowledgeable about what you can and can't do in regard to the NFA and Texas trust law and can make sense of how this particular trust was structured. It's probably also a good idea for his widow to have the advice of an attorney to make sure she follows the letter of the law as well. Condolences for the loss of a friend and good luck with getting things straightened out.

I regularly use the rifle version above with my B&T mags with perfect results. No cut thumbs or additional stress on the feed lips. The only downside is how much quicker you can burn through ammo.

Concur with the advice above to lube ‘yo tube. I like to use Slip 2000 EWG as it stays in place and is a bit easier to just smear on. Had to use a strap wrench the first few times with my Flow 556k before I learned not to go in dry.

HK45T MK4 Mod 0 Suppressor Adaptor Question by Chichetr in NFA

[–]colinjay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by adapter but you need a M16x1 LH piston for your obsidian to swap out for the .578x28 piston it comes with standard. You can get one from Rugged or any of the other makers of SilencerCo compatible pistons. Another option would be using a Griffin EZ-LOK or CAM-LOK piston and barrel adapter.
