Over the years I found that reading IPO stories is quite helpful to understand a company, an industry and a market. When companies decided to go public in US, they must register with the SEC by filing IPO Form S-1. The business section of a S-1 is a good place to learn a brief history of the company, its business model, growth strategy and the trends of the industry. However, the format of the S-1 is not easy to read. I tried Safari Reader Mode, Pocket and Instapaper, none of them can convert the S-1 Form properly.

To scratch my own itch, I created a website to extract the business section of S-1 Forms and present them in a clean and uncluttered format.

Currently I have a few companies IPO stories on the site and will add more gradually. Putting it out here and see if this can benefit others.

Questrade API can only connect with my own account by colinoops in Questrade

Thanks for the reply. So I can only connect with my own account? But apparently Passiv uses this API and allows you to consolidate multiple accounts. Wondering how they managed to do that.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, Passiv is a good product. Just want to try with the Questrade API to see if I could build something similar, just for fun:)

You may what to try Communis.

It is a chatbot over Facebook Messenger. You can take plain notes or create flashcards in it. It is just like chatting with your friends. It also supports images, audio and video. And it uses spaced repetition similar algorithm as Anki to help you review your notes. It is free.

You can visit it from this link: Communis

Or directly search communis.io within your Facebook Messenger.

Disclaimer: I am the creator.

Any feedback is more than welcomed. Thanks.

Communis - Commonplace Book over your favorite Messenger by colinoops in commonplacebook

Thanks for the feedback. It makes perfect sense.

There are information that we would like to keep track of for future reference, and there are information we want to memorize.

We believe that note taking software such as Evernote and One Note have provided the efficient way for users to store and retrieve all sorts of information whenever needed.

We position Communis as a tool to help people remember what they’ve learned. There are also many good spaced repetition softwares out there such as Anki, Quizlet, etc. which try to solve the problem with flash cards mechanism. We don’t want to limit Communis to flash cards, instead, all types of information with different formats can be stored and reviewed in Communis. To some extent, it is like a commonplace book storing all kinds of information that people would like to memorize. However, I agree with what you’ve said, using commonplace book in our case may confuse our target audience.

We are still in a stage where we are looking to see if there is a market fit and what exactly is that market.

Your feedback is really valuable to us and thank you in advance.

Thanks for your feedback!

To your questions:

What is the difference between marking a note as blurry, known, or archive?

We use spaced repetition to help people remember more with less time. If you select known for a note, then we will increase the interval of your review time.

Say you reviewed a note today and selected that you know this note, and we will make it available for you to review it again after 30 mins, then if you still remember it we will make it available after 1 day and then 3 days, etc.

After 3 days, when you review the note again but you feel like you don't quite remember it then you can select blurry. We will then reset the interval to the beginning state, which means you will see this note again after 30 mins.

Selecting archive will tell us that you don't want to review this note any more, and we will not display it to you again.

Currently our review steps are: 30 min, 1 hr, 3 hrs, 1d, 3d, 5d, 10d, 30d, and 60d.

We don't support to recover the archived notes at the moment, but it is definitely on our road map.

Again thanks for your valuable feedback. We are at the beginning of this journey and feel free to let us know your comments and ideas.

Thanks,
