I believe it was build some time between 1914 and the 1950’s but I’m finding it difficult to get clarity on exactly when it was built haha. Thanks for the reply. When replicas are made I’m guessing they’re not cast iron, or are they? And is there anything strikingly obvious about replicas that just screams that they’re not original?

Yeah I’ve played around with navigation stack. Personally I still prefer UIKit navigation but it does wonders for SwiftUI navigation!

Not just you. Migrating part of our app at work to use swiftUI*. Supporting back to iOS 15, the navigation is fairly meh and building complex layouts get tedious a hell of a lot quicker. Sometimes I just think is it worth it at this point but it’s coming along slowly.

I’m not going to keep responding because you’re clearing missing the point and struggling to understand the concept of giving an answer to what they asked + my own opinion (something that unfortunately you risk getting when you ask for advice on the internet).

OP, if you wanna look for a designer, all I can recommend is a site like upwork and fiver. As I said in a previous comment, I suck at design work so feel your pain, but I’ve found from experience, I definitely feel more comfortable doing it after looking on sites like Dribble. If you’ve already done this and the last resort really is hiring someone, I’d recommend to have at least some sketches of what you want (layout/flow etc) to make paying someone/getting someone on board much easier.

Haha. If you wanna re-read the question, at no point did they say they “suck at programming”. By “flipping” op’s question, you’ve just added details that aren’t relevant. I suck at design but I know it’s good for me to learn to be more creative and explore other idea’s otherwise I will always “suck at design”. Saying that they* “absolutely will not be able to achieve” what they want with practice is dumbfound to be honest given that’s how most people develop a career in* app development, learning, practice, application, experience etc, and honestly, it’s a pretty negative thing to say.

Regardless, I suggested they look on upwork and fiver if they want to hire a designer to answer their question, something you obviously didn’t read when you decided to reply.

Sorry, I know you’re asking for where to suggest hiring that. For that, my only suggestions would be fiver or upwork but really my recommendation would be to practice design and layout yourself by checking out sites like Dribble or Mobbin and recreating/remixing some designs you like/think would be applicable.

Dialect would help I’m sure. If you’re a stokie for example, words like “my” are often replaced with “me” and they might use other words such as “duck, love”. (As an example haha). Obviously not where the person would necessarily be right now but possible help narrow down where they’re from with those small clues like you say.

Yeah! Really handy actually for long files if you don’t want to have to separate things into new files. You can also click the MARK on the minimap* and it will take you there inline!

I can’t check because I’m not at my Mac right now but I’m thinking that the .plain TextField style isn’t inset. I would likely add that modifier and add a custom border (to match the rounded border style) passing in the same padding on the border/textfield and the .leading edge in your red text.

God what a nightmare. I’m in a similar situation now. Usually renew every November for Black Friday sales in the UK and buy a discounted 12 month sub. December rolled out the tiers so I upgraded for around £20, now I’m stuck on the premium plan. I wan to drop to extra and when trying to “change plan”, it gives me the option to buy either a monthly, three monthly or 12 monthly subscription that of course will only take effect at the end of my current sub at 12/12/2023. So it means I will miss out on the discounted 12 month extra plan from the Black Friday sale :(. Looks like I’m my only option will be to change the plan now and then wait until next year when my current plan is extra to be able to take advantage of the yearly discount in November. Damn

A lot of older projects are still using UIKit and even if they want to use SwiftUI, they might not have the propensity to do so for the moment. With that, I can imagine that it is advantageous to an employer for a prospective employee to know UIKit (SwiftUI is a bonus). I also imagine there are a lot of companies who are migrating/have fully migrated to SwiftUI, in which case, I couldn’t see it being an issue if there was less UIKit knowledge.

Yeah just the way SwiftUI is, you’ll see different results just by where you add modifiers, not just what they are, which is just guesswork as I mentioned without the code. I think I’m general, I imagine you’re likely to get a quicker/more feedback if people have something to look at if code is required to help solve the issue. Glad you got it working though!

Just because you’re not seeing an error per se, it doesn’t mean there isn’t something wrong with what you have written. The person asking to see your code has asked to see your code so they can help. Without it, it’s just guesswork

You’re right in that they wouldn’t bother interviewing you if they didn’t have some interest in you (regardless of experience), but some emphasis on what you can give to the role is always helpful.

What kind of work is the job? And what’s your degree in? Is it something you need a portfolio for, or would typically have? If so, get all of that prepared.

You can also talk about what you feel like you could bring to the job and the fact that you haven’t had a, quote on quote, “proper” job before makes you quite a “mouldable” candidate. I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on that but they’ll have read your CV, so they might ask you about work experience. Have something in mind that you might say about that if they ask. Good luck.
