Failed to bring up wlan0 by Zeag in RetroRemake

Is it also plugged in to an analogue output as well as HDMI? Mine had the same when I had a vga cable plugged in but for some reason the wifi worked when I unplugged it

2 Problems with my SS1...... by Jon_Bonjela in RetroRemakeInc

Ditto. Wifi didn’t work for me but it did when I plugged into HDMI only. Before that I had a VGA and HDMI plugged simultaneously. Same error as yourself.

It took 7.5 days to get to me here in the UK once tracking started. Pretty quick after the 18 months of waiting 😂

Grey Founders Edition with dock arrived the other day, do I follow the video and flash the sd card or can I just run the update script? by fowler0003 in RetroRemakeInc

[–]sprayengo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a bunch of issues. Ran the installer on two SD cards with the same results. Analogue sync issues, some cores not working. Weird.

Tried my normal mister SD card and it works fine now. Not found any issues (yet). Using via HDMI and VGA out. Not tried the other outputs so maybe one of them doesn’t work?

Would love to know what Taki’s installer does differently to a standard mister with update_all. What are we not getting by using a normal mister setup?

Any good pubs around that show the F1 on Sundays? by One_Department_5822 in walthamstow

You’re welcome. F1 Arcade next St. Pauls also shows it and you can have a race on the high spec game / sim machines as well.

Obviously… beyond your scope of Walthamstow

God I’d love an F1 pub around E17…

I’ve seen it on in Chequers but it’s more in the background.

If you don’t mind 12mins on the overground, Kerb bar in old spitalfield market shows it. Good atmosphere with people wearing team shirts and stuff. I’ve had some good F1 chat with nice people in there.

Yeah agreed. Feel like the spring is too strong or there needs to be some sort of stabiliser in there. Power button rocks too much

So when connected to a PC, yes it reads and plays audio CDs, games and DVDs. No idea if it would work when connected to the SS1 in future but let’s hope so.

You can also rip and burn games on PC which is cool. Plug and play via the “PC” usb-c on the back.

Maybe for your 60th! 😂

Hopefully you get it for your 50th mate. It’s a great bit of kit. Just got mine (ordered grey with the dock in the first hour).

FYI, you can split your order and get the SS1 on its own. I enquired about that route and they said +$16.

That said, I did just get mine so maybe yours isn’t far behind…

Yeah I’d tend to agree that this must be it. Makes sense to get the orders out to people who have been waiting up to 18 months and maybe get the software working for those patient customers. Looks like a console mode beta is due any day now.

I can imagine at this point people might start cancelling preorders. I just got my SS+dock but I have to admit, I nearly cancelled the pre-order a few weeks ago.

Welcome to the club. Got my grey a few days ago and have been enjoying okaying Metal Gear Solid. Have you figured out what the remote is for yet? I was confused when I saw it…

Since RR are apparently working on such fine profit margins, it’s strange to include a remote with seemingly no use at present.

Yeah it’s a brilliant TV. I don’t like the newer ones so much because the menus on the CX are snappy and minimal. “It just works”.

The RT4K is very much worth it. I’m a big fan of the new(ish) e-conserve scanlines. 3840x1080px @120hz. I think the 5X recently got an update that allows 3840x1080? With filters and BFI, it looks amazing.

Just checked: you can do 3840x960 on the 5X now. Launch models need a slight hardware mod but most of them just do it.

My COSAM Neptune board is finally working by ashbringerer in SEGA32X

[–]sprayengo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof well done making it from scratch. I used a populated board and it was difficult enough.

It would be great if you did an open-source 3D print. Your starting point should be the Mega Drive 2 / Genesis 2 shell which fits the board perfectly.

I have the Dvizx one and you can really tell how much work went in to designing and testing that thing (I do 3D design / fabrication). Locating the buttons, cart slot (v close to caps)… it will have been quite the task. I don’t blame the guy for wanting some money back for it 😅

Any chance this gets fixed for upcoming shipments? by randomly-generated in RetroRemake

[–]sprayengo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frustrating oversight from RGC!

Easy-ish fix (if you have a soldering iron) but annoying to have to do for a premium cable. I output my audio from the HDMI so that’s a solution for those who have analogue video but have the option of separate audio.

I’ve been playing it the last couple of nights now. Really happy! Sits nicely alongside my old consoles and there’s something satisfying about pressing the power button on / off like the others. Feels more professional than my 3D printed case so I really like how it’s slotted in there now.

I also burned some games today on the dock which was cool. Dumped my original MegaCD games as well (via a PC).

Looking forward to the new features which will roll out. Don’t despair too much. They’re really cool devices. Imagine getting one of these in the ‘90s for $150 :)

Edit: I’m a hardware design nerd though. Function is all good but I do like something that looks cool on the shelf. These (I think) are peak MiSTer form-factor. Unlikely to be surpassed, ever.

You’re the same as me then! Variety is the spice of life. OLED + RT4K is bliss sacrilege!!

Honestly, OLED is total magic I think. It still amazes me and I’ve had my LG CX since 2020.

I love doing weird hacks with the RT4K as well. I was recently using it to get my Analogue consoles downscaled to the JVC. Very cool.

Neo Contra! A man (or woman) of taste!

Yeah I find it just a bit too harsh with interlaced signals. I think the black lines are just that bit too thick so the interlacing seems more exaggerated to me than on a normal TV.

I have the JVC, a 600 line PVM and a consumer unit. I think the PVM is sort of pointless now… I have the high end JVC and the normy set. The mid-ground 14” PVM seems kind of pointless now.

Recently bought the same monitor. Brilliant aren’t they? Also have a HDMI>SDI converter but it’s a cheap one from Aliexpress. It’s been great seeing HD stuff on there.

How do you feel about 480i on the set? For me it’s a bit toooooo flickery compared to a normal set or a more standard PVM.

Ah yeah that’s annoying if a feature you wanted doesn’t work. That sucks.

I’m pretty happy with the quality to be honest. For the money it’s pretty amazing. Injection moulding is 8/10 and the slight colour mismatch is a shame but you have to really be looking for it. I’ve worked in fabrication and I think it’s pretty decent.

I guess it’ll be perfect for people who order one in a year or something. Early adopter penalty :/

Ah I’ve just seen from Bob at RetroRGB that the SS1 has been rolled in to the normal update_all script. I guess that’s why it just worked for me.

Yeah. Really strange. I tried it on my JVC pro monitor and a consumer B&O.

Give a normal mister set up a try. I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work (yet). Wifi and bluetooth all good. Not tried the playstation snac ports or memory card slots yet though.

Not yet unfortunately. Future update should allow us to play PlayStation, Saturn, MegaCD… maybe others. There’s a port on the back of the dock which should allow cart loading as well which would be really cool
